Went to a Toyota dealership today and was offered $9,500 for a 2010 Prius before fees. Originally the car was advertised for $10,400 but after I presented the the Blue Book value which was 9k they decided to "give me a discount". The car looks clean, carfax is clean too, only one owner and with basic maintenance every 5k or so. The dealership has supposedly done 1k worth of maintenance before putting it up for sale. Unfortunately they are selling it as-is and I would have to pay extra for extended warranty. My main concern is the battery, with 125k miles I probably have about than 6 month before the warranty runs out (uber driver). Is the car worth it or should I look around for better deals?
welcome! oil burning may be a problem on the 2010, with over 100,000 miles. and it's not really something you can check until you own it. what's your max budget?
He's going to be using it for uber the last thing he needs is a new car. If you're going to be using this for uber find a cheaper one.
It's a Prius III as far as I can tell noting major wrong with it. I took it for a test drive and it felt pretty smooth. My budget is around 10k with 4k down.
I have to chime in here I think you should pull the trigger!!! you're going to use it for Uber, I use ours for Uber and LyftLyft. It's a great price you're going to own it out the door you need a hybrid to do this job and I wouldn't worried about battery issues until you have a battery issue or any other issues if you know that the car is up to Snuff do it!!! Because I own 2011 Prius and rideshare with Uber and Lyft I know what this car is capable of doing which is making us a whole lot of money just remember be nice to the car it'll be nice to you but you should buy it!!!
I bought a 2010 prius III, not Three since only 2010 Prius used uppercase roman numerals for model designation, with 170k miles for 9500 about half a year ago. It runs as well as a new car and I don't notice any oil burn. It has 185k miles now and I get 50mpg driving for uber with a lot of freeway acceleration, the battery is running strong because the car is constantly in use and don't sit for too long. Just my experience. I have zero problems with this car, I bought it knowing it'll last much more than 200k because it is a Toyota. I even drove it a few times in a nonstop 850 miles trip on i5. For that mileage at the price I would pull the trigger! As long as you test drive it and it is driven good.
If it's a model 2 you can def do better! Lyft has some insane driver bonuses if you sign up to drive soon soon I think it's $500 in la. Lyft.com/drivers/loaded
Gen3 HV batteires dont concern me nearly as much as the physically smaller inverters do (in comparison tot he Gen2). Then again Ive changed plenty a water pump on a Gen 2 (mechanical) and never a gen3 (electric).
i just bought 2010 Prius IV with 105,012 miles for $8600 KBB value 8200 to 9500 you want to be as close to the low end of the KBB value as possible
