So it's looking like I may not be posting so much in the Gen 1 forum any more. (The other driver and I are both ok.) Still figuring out what forum I'll be posting in next. There's a fully functioning Electric Green Mica with a bashed right rear door and quarter over in Private Sales if anyone has a use for a parts or project car ... I would be happy if it went to someone with an interest instead of the insurance company's salvage yard. -Chap
I'm glad you're OK, and sad the car is deemed dead. As you transition, let us know where you land. If we're really lucky another Gen I will cross your path and you'll be back where you belong.
You are not alone. I am offering our 2003 Prius to my 'Facebook' friends and family while I finish the last of the clean-out, clean-up, and pending experiments. If none of them are willing to fly to Nashville to pick it up, I'll offer it to my housekeeper and her family. If they are not interested, I'll offer it to 'the usual suspects.' I've learned all I can from the Gen-1 and though it is a fine car, after 13 years, it has reached the end of its design life for my purposes. Patience, my 'Facebook' friends and family may have no interest. My housekeeper and her family may also pass. Then it is just a question of donation or 'donation' if you catch my drift. <GRINS> Bob Wilson
And off it goes to where I'm told it will find no salt in the winter, and many Gen 1s roam the town. Plus I kind of like how it looks in Colorado plates. That was easily the lowest TCO, least-hassle car I have ever owned. Here's hoping the Gen 3 peeking out behind it will do so well. -Chap
And that is not counting the entertainment from keeping it running and Priuschat. So tell us about the Gen-3. Bob Wilson
All in good time. It hasn't even got permanent plates yet. And having to suddenly jump into car shopping and clean out and unmodify the Gen 1 and collect all the spare parts collection to put into the Gen 1 to say goodbye to it this morning ... has put me way behind on an array of other things. Plus I'm still trying to absorb as much about Gen 3 from techinfo as I can on a month subscription.... -Chap
That's been my experience also. Sorry to hear you're no longer a Gen 1 owner - hopefully you won't completely disappear from this forum. Thanks to your help I'll be able to enjoy a few more years with this great car.
