tried reading the quick guide manual and also the main encyclopedia book that comes with the vehicle in regards to the blind spot monitoring functionality. Wife's previous vehicle would beep if one would turn on the turn signal if another vehicle was in the next lane. I noticed the Prius BSM LED on mirror blink if I use my turn signal with no audio alert. Was wondering , would the Prius audio alert kick in if I were to start moving over towards the vehicle in the next line or does the Prius only give me visual alerts? LG-H901 ?
I don't think mine makes noise at any time. I had to change lanes in front of a guy who wouldn't let me over on the street the other day and the BSM thought he was too close. It only blinked rapidly, that I recall.
That's odd to me considering the vehicle has some many beeps and warning alerts but non for the BSM. When I turn ON the BSM in the MID it beeps to tell me it's on lol. LG-H901 ?
It only flashes for me in the side mirrors if someone is there and my blinker's on. It's a solid light if your blinker isn't on and there's a car in your blind spot. The lane departure beeps and mildly (barely) steers you back in your lane
Perhaps you could try gently moving towards the vehicle next to you when the BSM LED is blinking ;-) LG-H901 ?
Whatever you say.... I'm kidding. When I'm turning in a double turn lane with my blinker and there's a car next to me, I'm turning toward the car and it doesn't steer.
Must be a Toyota thing. Some other Toyota models don't give an audible alert either for the BSM. LG-H901 ?
With all the beeping that occurs in the cabin, I'm quite surprised that no beeping occurs when the turn signal is activated and a car is detected in your blind spot. This is a great feature on the Mazda 3 and gave me an instant awareness that there was a car next to me when I test drove it. It's a bit of a let down that even with this safety package (4 Touring) it doesn't beep. I'd think this could be addressed by giving the driver an option to enable blind spot beeping via a software update. I know I'd enable it.
This is exactly what I was attempting to relay. Was a great feature also on the cx5. The Prius only beeps buzzes for rear cross alert lol. LG-H901 ?
2016 Prius Four with AT and Premium Convenience packages. My previous car was a Mazda 3 and I am used to the audible beep when the turn signal is activated and car is detected in the blind spot. Shame that with all the technology in the Gen 4 Prius and so many audible alerts (lane departure, rear cross, front collision, etc) they chose not to enable this audible alert. Is there any hope that Toyota will enable this with a software update?
