... on a 2016 Prius Four yesterday and couldn't be happier. Trade in was a 2005 Prius III, Package 5 with 240,033 miles on it. :)

    So far, so good.

Well since it's barely been a day, I'd hope so.
If you were already unhappy that would be a bad sign.

    Congratulations.
As you gain time and experience with the new Prius, I'd be interested in your comparative opinions between Prius Incarnations.

Good. We need a trigger man, especially here in NoVA.
Hey did the 2005 batt last the whole time?

    Dan,
I am planning to do the same thing next week - upgrade my 2005 package 6 with 138000 miles (and original battery) for a new Prius model four in blue crush/black interior. Now that the 2005 is "broken in" I'm giving it to my daughter so it will live on with her. The new 2016 has been riding the boat and then has been trucked across the country to the midwest.

Same here! Please let us know how you like/dislike old Prius VS new Prius. Congrats on the 240,000 miles on the prior car.

    Afternoon!

It DID last the whole 240k. Not a burp from the batteries. I preventatively replaced the 12 volt battery twice, if memory serves. Never had so much as a glitch from the whole hybrid system.

It's been about 48 hours and in all honesty, the driving experience is remarkably similar. And that's OK because that's what I wanted. I notice that it's a little tighter on curves but the added horsepower is really negligible in every day use. But the safety features in the Advanced Technology Package are AMAZING and have already made me a better driver. And saved my bacon once in a parking lot last night. :)

I'm VERY pleased with the car. It's exactly what I wanted in terms of feature set, color and drivability.

My only complaint is the lack of storage space. There ain't none. :(

Sorry I missed replying to you! Bottom line is that the driving experience is quite similar. It's about the same size, feels as though it's got a lower center of gravity, but I do not know. It seems to corner noticeably better. The added HP is a whole bunch of nothing, really. It's just not that different that I noticed it -- even in power mode.

THe electronics were overwhelming at first until I learned to look at just the stuff I needed to look at. Oh! And I forgot -- the head up display is very nice, though you have to sit just so left to right because the mirror doesn't adjust horizontally, just vertically. SO it adjusts if your taller, but not if you lean to one direction or another.

I doubt that you'll be disappointed in the least. I'm certainly not. And in absolute dollars, I paid damned near the same for the 2005 and the 2016.

@Dan-Wolfe Like the HDR, or "equalizing", or whatever treatment is happening with those images, looks good. :)

    (or there isn't any, lol?)

Very nice color...some people feel the Gen4 looks better in red, dark blue, darker colors.
I once looked at a Camry in that color but I always tend to go white thinking its cooler.

Heh heh... Yeah, I did a little photoshop on them because the lighting in the originals was a little shadowy. But in real life, it's a damned shiny and brilliant.blue, that's for sure.

Now after two days of yellow tree pollen, it's not so shiny. But that'll wash off.

If they still had Salsa Red, a color that was available when I got the 2005 one, I'd have seriously considered it. Loved that color.

I also have a 2005 Prius in Salsa Red! I Beautiful pics! The new Prius is so much better in every way (except for the storage space:(), and especially the NVH refinement. The car is so much quicker at accelerating than my 2005. The 05 is SLOOOOOOW.

I agree the Salsa Red is a great color. It's just starting to get sun damage, though. Did your 2005 Prius burn oil like crazy? I have to go through a quart or two of oil every month.

    Congrats on the new Prius!

I just checked the mileage today on my other red 2005 Prius and I have 239,938 miles on it. So close to your old one. I hope that's not when most of them die:sick:.
