FJ Cruiser. This thing is big! I've seen all colours except yellow so far on the road (the yellow was on display at the auto show)
Big? I saw one at the dealer and it wasn't as large as I had anticipated. Does anyone have side-by-side comparitive pictures with other vehicles?
Ah, "Cruiser" thanks! I thought it was big myself... ...but in a Toyota kinda way. I think the Sequoia is much bigger... Could be wrong, but it didn't seem as big as a Sequoia... Looks cool as hell though, but for 27K....meh....
They're kinda neat looking! I've been seeing at least one every day around here...black, silver, yellow, blue. They look like big toys.
hmm... not big as in... say a Suburban is big. It's short in length but quite tall. Just wait til one drives by while you're sitting in the Prius lol.
They are the reincarnate of the old FJ40's from 1960-1984 that were in competition with the Jeep CJ series. They are far bigger than their predecessors and are roughly the same size as the Land Cruisers and Rovers.....although they do seem to be a little taller.

The best of both worlds, FJ and HSD Toyotas: Day 1 with my FJ At an Oregon beach Edit: New pic w/Camry HSD added
Yeah they make a good puddle rooster/wake had one pass me the other day he hit a puddle and drenched my white van  But a cool retro ride.... Amped has all the toys, heck if we had his money we could all burn ours   . The only thing Amped leftout was the hot bikini babe, then he'd have been the envy of the board. <_<
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(amped @ May 18 2006, 06:01 PM) </div> Dude, thanks for posting those links, loved the pics.! B)
They had one of those beasts out front at the dealership the other day so I asked one of the salesmen about it and he said that they can't keep them on the lot because they sell so fast. At least around here, the waiting list is even longer than the one for a Prius.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(JackDodge @ May 22 2006, 03:38 PM) </div> And they get gas milage no better than an Explorer. I'm rather surprised (well, not really) that I haven't seen the same kind of scorn in this thread that is thrown at GM, Chevy, and Ford. The closest we've come to is your "beast" reference.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Marlin @ May 22 2006, 03:51 PM) </div> When the American car companies actually stop and ask themselves why that is, and really be honest with themselves about the answer, then they may actually learn what they've been doing wrong all these years. B)
These seem to be selling as quickly as the Prii are in my area of SoCal. I keep seeing lots of both vehicles. Toyota just plays all sides of the game. They do the Hybrids and a slew of high mpg cars and then they have the power cars. They are in the business to make money afterall!! American companies tend to just spit out the same old stuff. They are late in the high mileage game and (for the most part) no shows on alternate fuels/energy sources (E85 does not count d/t lack of infrastucture to make the vehicles useful in this mode.)
Hmmm, it still amuses me that you guys view American SUVs as gas guzzling pigs, yet a new Toyota SUV that gets no better gas milage is viewed with ambivalence or even "Wow, that's cool." type comments. When you are tailgated by one of these, are you going to claim it's driven by an angry knuckle-dragging Neanderthal, or a misunderstood philanthropist?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Marlin @ May 22 2006, 04:42 PM) </div> No, but anyone who drives one of those ugly-as*ed SUVs, that Ford and GM make, may be a seen as a graduate of the knuckle-dragging academy  Who designs those things anyway? They design a vehicle and then send it to the MIU department (make it ugly)? I think that Chrysler makes some very pretty SUVs but Ford and GM seem to like to whack 'em with an ugly stick. Sheesh
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Marlin @ May 22 2006, 01:42 PM) </div> That's the thing. I see a GMC suv go by and I can see through the bumper cause the gaps are so large. Also, compare this retro Toyota FJ to the retro SSR. I also believe it's a tad more efficient than the 4Runner.
doooooood........ That's sa-weeeeeeeeeet! I've been seeing a bunches of them all colors here on the left coast!
