On my Three model, the DRL is the actual main headlight... just slightly dimmer. I thought it would be the same with all models? On the other hand, does the Four model have fog lights? I thought somebody mentioned that the DRL is down below, with the fog light. Not sure. Maybe it's the Touring model. (Is JB asking where is the actual DRL light bulb? Or the switch position?) And what is SM-N920V??? Secret Code???
You turn them on via the headlight stalk. On Prii without the Auto headlights, you turn the switch to DRL. On Prii with Auto headlights, you switch them to Auto and the DRL's are always on. On the headlights, the DRL lights are in the round part of the headlight. They're surprisingly bright and look really nice. The four has the DRL's, not fog lights
lectro, what are those 3 small LED lights, down there with the fog lights on the Touring model? Do they serve any purpose? You know which ones I'm talking about?
Thanks everyone. I'm just in the shopping phase right now and don't have the vehicle and no manual. Sorry about the crptic code that tapatalk puts in sig, which is just the model for my phone. I've gone into the application settings and turned that off. J
I think these are what you're talking about. They're part of the fog lights. They turn on when the top part of the fog lights turn on. I have a Four non-touring, so I don't really know about the fog lights much. In the pics, it looks like only the three LEDs are on, not the top part of the fog light. BTW, the 2016 Prius Owners manual is on toyota.com. It's on the Toyota Owners site. There's a huge pdf with the entire manual you can look at.
The 3 LEDs are not part of the fog lights. Those come on when the parking lights or low beams come on... I guess they call them accent lights, but the fog lights are actually right above the 3 LEDs. I wish they would use the 3 LEDs as the DRL
Thanks, ucla. Yes, they would look nice as part of the DRLs. (I thought they were.) I also wish the "Z" rear tail lights would function as part of the brake lights. Have you looked at the brake lights in sunny day time? They didn't appear to be very bright. I'll have to check again. I really like the brake lights on the Gen3; those get my attention quickly.
Thanks for that, went there a downloaded a copy, very nice indeed. J I see you have the moonstone interior, any comments on clean ability, especially for the white dash? Thx, J
White dash? Yeah, the Four Touring models I looked at had white in the dash, and white in the seats. I was thinking... "Oh man, is this a 1980's Cadillac?" Old Man Beige is the way to go!
Ok it's nice. But color harmony between beige and white elements look strange on the photo. Maybye less obvious in reality.
I had a couple coffee stains on the seat once and they came off very easily. There's no sign of any dirt or wear so far. You should look at the interior colors in person. When my car salesman said the beige looked too military-like in her opinion, I couldn't go with the beige. No offense to Coast Cruiser. In person, the beige looked like dark green and beige. Not a good color combo for a car IMO (although it would look nice if the whole interior was beige). The moonstone is such a great color in the car (it might be my favorite) because it makes the car seem much roomier inside (especially with the sunroof). Everything is bright and airy. I recommend the moonstone. I couldn't be any happier.
Hmmn let me check again tomorrow... I disabled DRL so I don't remember what it looks like during the day
Can you elaborate please, on why you disabled the daytime driving lights? Thanks. (Man, I was absolutely blinded yesterday, by the DRLs on an Audi. Or maybe it was an Acura. There's like 16 bright LEDs on the front of those cars.) And 'Lectro, I was kidding about the Moonstone interior looking like an "80s Cadillac." I like it better in the cloth than the SofTex. It's looks silver (not white) in the cloth version. Very nice. (Just like my cloth seats look more "gold" to me, and not "prison tan" like in the SofTex version. The price was so good on my car, I just went with whatever color the interior was.)
I just didn't like the fact that it's the same as the headlights... During the day it looks just like I have the headlights on. I would've preferred that Toyota made the 3 LEDs the DRL that lights up in the bumper like the late Gen 3.
On the Australian model it's just the 3 LEDs that light up as DRLs. Interesting the different setups in different countries! Not sure if they stay on with fog lamps (haven't turned them on yet), but they go off when the headlights come on.
