What's the oddest thing someone has said to you when getting out of your prius

I find that people usually want to know; "But when do you charge it?"

Yea...but let's remember some people need and/or want a small SUV.

 

"I couldn't hear that damned thing"

I guess I startled the person. They were never in any danger...

 

How many miles you get on a tank? I answer 500. He says hah, I can get that on my Jeep.

 

I have never had anyone say anything about my Prius. Now I live in a town where Prii almost outnumber other cars so I doubt I'll ever get any comments.

 

Co-worker when car was new:

"That is the ugliest damn car I have ever seem" !!

After explaining the reason for the aerodynamic shape and MPG he was somewhat impressed but said as I was leaving "It is still ugly" !! Haha.

 

"Sir, have you had anything to drink tonight?" - I'd just left House of Pancakes at 2:00 AM and headed home and a lady officer stopped me.

"No mam, I had a beer about 7:00 but nothing since then. I went to get something for my wife. Why did you stop me?"

"Well sir, you were driving 25 mph on a 40 mph access road and that often indicates alcohol."

"Uh, mam, this is a Prius and I was trying to get some MPG data." . . . "bark, bark bark" said the dog.

"Oh, well drive home safe." and we were done.

I got a remark when parking the 2001 Prius at a high school football game. An older guy who said: "That's one of them new hybrid cars. I here the batteries on those things fail routinely."

It instantly reminded me of a saying my Dad said to someone: "I don't think you should declare that quarter is lost till it stops rolling." Still waiting for routine.

 

What are you doing in my living room?

 

When I had my 2008 I had someone ask the same thing and if it would attract lightning.

#1 - A coworker: "How big are your wheels?! They look tiny!!"

#2 - This one's not odd, but was a first for me... Last week, a woman stopped me in the parking deck and asked if I liked my Prius! Back when I was thinking about buying one, I accosted dozens of unsuspecting Prius drivers, in parking lots all over Atlanta, to ask how they liked their car, where they got it serviced, etc. It was weird to be on the receiving end of those questions this time!

 

I have 2010 Prius III and 2015 Prius v, I park both cars in the garage and once in a while I park both cars in the driveway, my neighbors statement "You know you are in Texas, you need a pick up truck"

 

same in south. you need a monster truck so you can burn enough gas to subside arabs and terrorists. it's all implied, no one had a nerve to say it to me personally. i need some sort of bumper sticker.

 

"How in the hell do you fit in that thing?!"

 

I have owned my Prius c for four weeks now and I have had people telling me what a beautiful color it is.....
