Need my brake actuator replaced after a bunch of dash lights came on. Diagnosed at dealer as brake actuator. They want around $2300 for the part alone and doesn't seem to be cost effective on my 2005 Prius. I have ordered the part online and am going to have it replaced. I understand its best to have Toyota dealer replace, but wanting to know if anyone has ever replaced the actuator themselves? Is this a replacement part that needs to be done by a hybrid mechanic or any mechanic with brake knowledge able to do it?? Anything helps. Thanks
Another alternative would be to buy a used part from a salvage yard. The replacement needs to be done by a mechanic who has access to the Toyota repair manual (techinfo.toyota.com) and Toyota Techstream (or Mini VCI for the DIYer) and will follow the specified process.
If i have the mini vci is it hard to do it? Because i saw on Amazon the mini vci with toyota techstream for like 22 bucks
