I still want to know how the thieves started the car in the first place. Owner left it in ready? ;)

And of course, why would Prius owners help someone who stole a Prius?

    But it's still good. :)

Guess Toyota released another (a sequel to) the robbery commercials

I don't find them funny nor good representation of the car

Awful commercials. And while I'm complaining about commercials, I also hate the Volt commercial where they compare a 2016 Volt to the no longer in production 2015 Prius to show that the Volt has "newer" technology. Deceptive advertising all around.

What happened to the cool ads like where the young kid is dreaming about driving a Corvette like a hot wheels car? Or that's right, it got yanked out of fear young kids would actually try it. >face palm<

    Edit: found a link!

Haha! Now wonder people are having a hard time finding red ones to purchase!

At least they don't have a woosy Prius driving down flowery cartoonish roads like they did for Gen 3. Hated those ads.

    True!! :D

I think they wanted badly to remove the "stigma" of unexciting, tree hugger, boring, fuel saving car, and made this set of commercials for that.
To be honest, I don't really watch TV any more, so I don't even know what type and if there are Prius commercials in Germany... ;)

There's a thread in the Tesla forum with examples of fan-made commercials. Worth a visit to see some awesome creativity. The first one, especially. Toyota, take note!

Another Fan-made Tesla Commercial | PriusChat

Edit: I see they've added several more, and... um, WOW! Watch all of these, and wonder how a major worldwide automobile company can pay the big dollars they do only to get mediocre commercials.

Toyota USA please read this thread, and then offer up a contest for Prius fans to make their own visions of what Prius commercials should look like - maybe a cohesive series of such ads. Select the best ideas and run the them. Offer up the best Prius as payment for their efforts. Then relish in the fact that you've saved millions of ad agency expenses, promoted the brand via the very fans that have made the model so popular and prepare to sell tons more cars. Heck, the good will alone promoting fan-made ads would be worth business interest stories all over the world.

Wow, those Tesla ads are impressive. Let's see, if I were to make a Prius commercial:

Clip of performance car carving up a mountain road...
Clip of 4x4 pickup bouncing along a muddy trail...
Clip of a Tesla driving past windmills (yes, stolen from the fan made commercial)...
The Tesla, 4x4, and performance car all converge in a massive traffic jam...
Show 4x4 idling and rolling coal...
Show performance car gunning engine to move 2 feet forward...
Show Tesla driver turning off A/C to conserve battery...
Show Prius and driver calmly and comfortably inching forward, then gradually accelerating as traffic dissipates...

Voiceover: "Prius: solving real world problems for 20 years"

Gold. If I ran marketing you'd be hired on the spot.

I think you might be right about Toyota wanting to reposition the car.

That said, I think they also wanted to broadcast that a new Prius is out there to all the potential buyers who might not be aware.

There must be a whole lot of people that know less about the arrival of a new Prius than I know about the arrival of new Kias, new Hondas, new Subarus, and new Fiats. Which is to say virtually nothing.

The ads do well to create awareness, I think. The first step to selling a new car is to let people know there is one.

On that score, millions of dollars well spent.
