Different, yes...but a definite correlation. If they are not selling well then you will not see them in the wild for quite a while.
Thanks! I have a Gen 2 2008 Prius. Seriously looking at the Prius Four. Can't decide whether or not to get it with the AT option. I would like the moonroof. ...
True but at least Toyota has not separate the charge for metallic paint like certain European manufacturers. (Although Toyota does charge for metallic paint in the UK so your silver would've been extra cost).
I test drove the Gen 4 at my dealer's insistence and was rather disappointed. Sure it has made small, but good improvements to a lot of things, but it convinced me that I don't want another Prius in the future, unless they make a "C" with a 1.8L engine. The big things the new model does that I like is: The brakes are no longer rubbish and the blur between electrical and engine power is now so so well hidden that it further discourages bothering thinking about mileage. The big bad thing that they have not fixed is that flooring it still requires 2 seconds before you get any response. And the looks... the Gen 3 at least looked a bit along the lines of a slightly overweight middle-aged lady that had had a tasteful facelift, but the Gen 4 has gone all Jocelyn Wildenstein crazy.
And it simply doesn't harmonize well with my Chanel handbag. Don't you just hate it when styles clash?
I did not read the whole thread, just the original post. I just got the Prius 4 Touring, fully loaded on Saturday, April 9th, 2016, and I want to report that the care is awesome so far. It is very smooth driving and is very quiet. The meters tell me that I am getting over 51 mpg right now, even though I am far from a hyper-miler type of driver. I had a 2005 Prius that I finally traded in, and this car is like a luxury automobile compared to that. I got the magnetic gray color, and it looks better than I imagined. The 17 inch wheels are very nice in both looks and function. The negative that I have noticed so far is the lack of storage space and the storage components. It has gone way down with the 2016 Prius. My 2005 had all sorts of nooks and crannies where I could store things including the double glove compartments. The 2016 version has a very small single glove compartment and a smaller center console. I think Toyota just got cheap with this part of the vehicle. I also noticed that the hatchback cover seems very flimsy, I would worry if I carried anything weighty in there. I never had to worry about that with my old vehicle. The hatch back has some weird hump as you get closer to the rear seats that is a pain if you are trying to carry something long in there like a bicycle.
I am completely stoked with my 2016 four touring. I have had the car now for ten days and I'm coming up on 2,000 miles on the odometer. I fully understand that when you floor the car it doesn't throw you back in the seat and I can't split lanes on the HOV. Gas mileage is 50+ at 70-75 mpg and I routinely get 55mpg without too much thought. I'm so glad I passed on the 2015 Prius when my 2014 got totaled. I put on a trailer hitch and a Kuat bike rack so the 2016 P4T is now the ultimate SUV (sport utility vehicle). And plenty of space in the rear boot for all my cr@p.
My lady and I drove a 4 and a 4 Touring back to back one day. The Touring is a little firmer and a little more agile in cornering. We ended up buying the Touring version.
I have a 2016 Prius Four Touring (also) that has a Security Label on the Driver's Rear door and on the hatch lid. Does anyone know what this means or what it is for? It has a code and a 1-888 XXXX number which I called to no avail. thx
I have a 2016 Touring also just new. What type of hitch did you install and who did the installation? thx
The hitch is Curt. The cost was $75 to do the install, which is very cheap. The hitch shop is in the high desert in Lancaster, CA. Daves Hitchin' Station.
Found out today, that my Priu4 is on the ship and will reach the port on June 15. Then I imagine it will reach the dealer by July 1st. Can't wait!!
I have been watching quite a few U-tube videos and found that Prius 4 touring are equipped differently depending what country it is bought at. One in Dubai was reviewed with ATP and PCP on the car! It showed heads up display. Also spare tire! Why is it different here in the USA?
Believe the answer is we don't really know but if you read threads here you will see various theories about needing to control weight to fit it certain categories for MPG and other regs.
It's really a lot simpler (and more complicated) than that. Every market's different, and combinations of options and packages vary according to market requirements and national organization's marketing plans. There's no good reason, just that Toyota Middle East did things differently from Toyota U.S.A. (which last I looked didn't even match Toyota Canada).
I saw that same video and I believe he mentioned that there are only two configurations available in Dubai. While the car he demo'd had foglights the wheels looked more like what is on a non-touring model here in the US, not even sure they were 17". J
