I have some time this weekend as it is only first week of quarter for me, and so I decided to check the filters on both my Prius's. My 2007 Prius had couple of dead spiders and small seeds and such, where as the 2004 Prius was just packed with leaves and dirt. I vacuumed them out from my shop-vac, and it actually got rid of some of the black color to the filter. My question here is, should I buy a brand new filter (found one on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/400767885806 ) or just wash the filter out or vacuum it (they seem to be original filters)? Furthermore, is there anything I should clean now that I have removed the entire cabin storage? EDIT: I accidentally included the wrong link to the cabin air filter on eBay.
new, If you live in a dusty area, you would need to change more often. I'm in Los Angeles and I do it every 30,000 miles or more
And the verdict is set, I have ordered both new filters! Any idea on what recommend schedule I should follow?
I think it depends on how dirty the air is in the area you live. Just check your new filters at about 10,000 miles and you will then get an idea as to when to check them again. I live in a Chicago suburb and my cabin filter is pretty dirty at 10,000 miles and I change it then. The air is dirty here.
You are right - I accidentally included the wrong long, my apologies, I already went ahead and bought two new air cabin filters: Cabin Air Filter MPV Legacy Outback 4Runner Celica FJ Cruiser Prius Sienna | eBay Aside from the filter itself, is there anything else I should be cleaning/checking for when I insert the new filter to keep the system in tip top condition?
