It would likely be EPA rated in the range of the NX and CrossTrek hybrids(30 to 33mpg), but we won't get it. Canada and the US get the Rouge and Xterra instead. Perhaps in Mexico.

Same car, different badge. We got rid of the X-Trail name (well Canada did since the US never got the X-Trail in the early 2000s) when the new one was launched and called it the Rogue.

Wikipedia made it sound like they just shared a platform, but I didn't spend the time to compare specifics.
    Mexico gets both.

    Nissan X-TRAIL 2015 | Medium SUV, 4x4

Looks exactly like our Rogue (of course there are regional differences in features).

Are you sure they're not US imports? I don't see the Rogue listed on their official website.

I think the article mentioned it being styled like the Rouge now.

"The Nissan Rogue is a mid-size crossover SUV that debuted in October 2007[1] for the 2008 model year, produced by the Japanese automaker Nissan. It is the North American version of the European-designed Qashqai, known as the Dualis in Japan and Australia."
Nissan Rogue - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    But...
"The second generation Rogue is a version of Nissan X-Trail adapted to North American market."
The latest generation X-trail and Rogue have the same wheelbase, and exterior dimensions within a fraction of an inch. The Q-thing is a smaller; 2 inches shorter in wheelbase and 10 in length. Not sure why Nissan used the name Rogue. I think X-trail would have went along with the Xterra and Pathfinder just fine.

I wonder if we'll get it in the US. The Pathfinder Hybrid existed for not too long (not many people knew about it) and it seems it was quietly dropped.

I recall there were also rumors of a resurrection of the Altima Hybrid (not based on Toyota HSD) based on Nissan's hybrid system but so far, they're still just rumors.

I'm not sure the Pathfinder Hybrid/QX60 Hybrid were very good in real life. They looked good on paper - minimal cargo loss, 3 row seating, small mpg jump but also small price premium. But I've read reviews that the hybrid system is a bit rough around the edges. Nissan has the LEAF and they have to be gaining a lot of experience from it. This can only translate well for hybrids if they choose to continue to pursue it. These are mild hybrids though, so I'm not sure if people are willing to pay the price for a small mpg jump, esp. since full hybrids have come down in price.

Nissan Canada quietly dropped the Quest for 2015. It's no longer listed on the Canadian website.

It isn't a mild hybrid, but a full one like in the Sonata. The RWD system in the Infinitis is actually on its second generation. I don't think Nissan promotes them much because they are more focused on BEVs over hybrids.

The 2015 Pathfinder hybrid isn't on the US page either. No official announcement about canceling it. Sales have been low with all their hybrids, and with low gas prices they might be just holding it back; focusing on this X-trail and supplying markets where they do better. They'll need hybrids to help with CAFE, and it will likely return when fuel prices go up again.

The X-Trail isn't a mild hybrid? Or the Pathfinder? I was sure the Pathfinder was a mild hybrid... hmm.

The only requirement to be a full hybrid is to be able to propel itself by electric alone. But it appears I am wrong. The Pathfinder motor has less than half the power output of the Sonata. It might blur the lines like Honda's old IMA though.

Pretty much. That's why I thought the Pathfinder was a mild hybrid. It's used as a supercharger, similar to the IMA but probably with updated tech.

I think you are a bit confused. The ICE actually has a supercharger. Its higher highway MPG is mostly due to this allowing a smaller displacement engine. The motor is like Hyundai's system. it is between the ICE and transmission with a clutch at each end. It is just a smaller motor.

The Jetta hybrid is quite similar. It has a turbo and uses a geared transmission instead of a CVT supercharger. Being lighter than a midsize SUV, it maybe a full hybrid.

Yeah I knew I should've worded it differently lol. I meant as an electric supercharger like IMA (ok yeah, the battery wasn't that strong and "supercharger" might be a bit of a stretch when you're talking Insight-I and HCH-I but I basically meant that the battery is used as a boost for acceleration).

They just announced that the Rogue hybrid is coming to the U.S. next year in 2016. It was just released for sale in japan. It's a true parallel hybrid but unlike the prius that uses planetary gears, it instead uses 2 electronic clutches to control power transfer.

Unlike the Rav4 hybrid and Outlander hybrid, the Rogue hybrid will retain the center driveline shaft to the rear wheels, so it has true AWD which is important to me due to the roads i have to travel at odd hours of the night where plow trucks won't hit a road for hours.

If it can hit mid 30's mpg, i'll probably buy one. It's using a lithium ion battery pack, so it'll be interesting to see the real world mpg numbers. The current pathfinder hybrid is a larger vehicle with a supercharged 2.5L ICE and a 22hp electric motor. It doesn't see much benefit from being hybrid. The rogue hybrid has a 2.0L NA ICE and a 40hp electric motor with 108ft-lbs of torque.

    hi
I sold my Gen 3, after lot of problems including brake actuator issue
did a bit of shopping and ended up with hybrid x Trail
saw Gen 4 also. But ended up here.
difference is mainly 20kmpl to 12kmpl. Then ride height needs some getting used to. Increased wobbling for sure.
I need some help in customizing
techstream doesn't seem to be getting along.
one big difference in x tral no ACC mode. You straightly go to ON mode... Even when it's off drivers shutter and mirror folding / adjusting works..
also gear lever needs some getting used to.

That's awesome, what country you in??

The rogue hybrid market pricing hit a few vendors, but Nissan pulled the plug on it's U.S. debut, i'm assuming due to the insanely low fuel prices right now( about 50 centers per liter). I really wanted to get one too. My prius just hit 130k miles, but has been the most reliable car i've ever owned.

    I'm in Sri Lanka
    its mainly JDMs come here
also Friend in Toyota gave me a test ride in new Prius. It was no much different from gen3. Apart from lowered seat.
    any idea about customizing software?

so in other words - saying this gets 48mpg makes about as much sense as saying Tesla is becoming like BMW
    :)

Exactly. It's a white elephant. Lucky for me my office increased my fuel allowance.
comparing to Prius, ICE kicks in almost always when you slightly touch accelerator
and regen range quickly runs out to apply physical brakes
I was comparing this Vs Honda Vezel & Outlander. I'm happy overall...
at least nothing to worry about ground clearance and good road respect...
