The PriusChat team in New York is having a good ole time, and we want to share some of their experience with you. So, just like we did for the 2016 Prius Reveal in Vegas, I've created a photo album for our team to post their photos in over the coming days. Here's the first. Wish I was there, @TonyPSchaefer, @Tideland Prius, @Paradox, @HTMLSpinnr, @HAWAIIANBUILT, @Russell Frost, & @talonts! Would you all be a little pissed if I posted a picture of my sweet new shirt? Prius Prime shirt by TonyPSchaefer posted Mar 23, 2016 at 5:18 PM
I'll be processing my photos later today. Sneak peak of the reveal from my Instagram: On my website for now. I'll pull some key photos and post here later today. RickJ Photography | 2017 Prius Prime
Our Token Chick, @Linda, was unable to attend. Here's a few more photos (all are also up on my website): Charge port right rear. Where the 2nd cap holder is, you can see where the JP version would have a CHAdeMO port! No quick-charge love for us, though. Check out that sexy glass dip! Stills from our live Periscope walkaround with TMS's Nathan Kokes That screen is huge! Not Tesla huge, but for the size of this cabin, Prius huge! No specs on resolution, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were as high as 1080p portrait (1080x1920). We'll keep an ear out for this though.
Hmm... is that pic showing the navigation map in 3D? It's a bit difficult to tell if it's just in 2D or with a slight 3D tilt.
My only qualm is the cup holders splitting up the back seat. Isn't the Prius known for its spaciousness/seating? I guess looks and ergonomics are the higher priority now.
The rear seat cupholders and storage bin in the Prime are a gift from Toyota for removing the storage space from the GenIV Hatchback that the GenIII and GenII used to have. All in all, a plus for the Prime, if you ask me. Now, if you have that 5th person wanting to go on the trip with you, they might be out of luck. Their stuff, though, assuming it will fit in that bin, is golden!
Looks like a wanna be Tesla. Just putting in a huge LCD view screen doesn't make the technology or design any better. I drove the new Prius and it's just mostly recycled 2010 technology with a little tweeking here and there. The Prime isn't much different - they changed the battery to Li-ion, changed the output gear size and some of the internal sun gear ratios and a larger LCD screen with the same old crappy entertainment system that doesn't support smartphone integration except for bluetooth. I really was hoping for something completely innovative. I guess the floor mat lawsuits scared them away from leading edge innovation that we knew so fondly back in 1997. I won't be buying a newer prius. My 2013 is tolerable at best. I get a whopping 28 mpg on a 1.1 mile journey at 20 deg F with the HEATER turned off! Ok a little whining but the jist of my post is my essential assessment of the 2016 Prius - kind of blaze'
are you serious? new owners are raving about the ride, mpg's, handling, comfort and more. is the infotainment your biggest priority? might even get you 24 mpg on your one mile trek. you should have purchased a pip, or prime would be perfect for you.
1.1 miles isn't gonna get good mileage in any vehicle. A BEV would suit you better (or biking). At temps as low as -40, my tank average was 39mpg.
