Just turned 100K on my 2007 pkg 3 (purchased Dec 2006), original owner, proper maintenance plus lots of recall/warranty repairs:
    - headlight condensation (warranty)
    - engine mount TSB
    - steering yaw bolt TSB
    - steering and hybrid coolant pump TSBs
    - aux audio port TSB
    - barking brake actuator TSB
    - gas pedal shave TSB (grr.)
    - rear hatch goopy handle (extended warranty)
    - transaxle (!) replaced TSB

No major out-of-pocket repairs to speak of.

Overall a good first impression of Toyota. (y)

Bought ours used three years ago, just turned 110,000 miles, still love that car! Some sad looking rust forming on the hood and drivers side door :-( but I guess living in northern ny it's to be expected. Going to keep it till it can't go no more! Still getting 50.3 mpg's in summer, and 47.8 in the dead of winter!

2004 with 93k miles, third owner and planing to make a video when turning to 100k.
I was just wondering if you have a link about those lights "Upgraded interior lights, plate lights, and reverse lights to LED"
Can I do them myself or it should be a qualified personel?
    Thanks

All of those are pretty easy. And require almost no tools. But be very careful not to brake plastic panels as your pulling them off.

Bought our 2004 Gen ii Prius 3 years ago with 67,000 miles . Today I've just got to 100,000 miles

It has passed all 3 MOT'S that I've taken it in for, I've replaced the front and rear brakes and changed tyres. It's just driven from Plymouth, UK to Norway and back 3316 miles been absolutely brilliant.

We just purchased a 2005 Pkg#5 car with ~170k on it. Based on the records we have, aside from tires, one set of brakes and a tune-up, it has been a near zero cost vehicle for the POs.

Thanks to this site, we learned how to evaluate the HSD system and what to look for prior to purchase. We are VERY pleased with it thus far.

3rd owner, 2007 here with 103k on it, bought just a couple months ago with 101. Looking at the service history, nothing major except water pump recall, a couple 12v batteries and regular oil changes. Passenger seat cushion stitching is torn so the seam is open from previous owners, but other than that interior is great. Next service I'm planning on the drain/fill of the CVT, just to be safe.

2007 Bought with 42,500 miles. Now has 184,000. Replaced main battery at 160,000. Have replaced small battery and electric cooler pump twice. Needs new cat as mine clogged up so bad I had to break apart insides. Next emissions at 3/18 so ok till then.

As you can see from the signature below we are on our second Gen II that had over 100,000 when we purchased it. Very happy with both of them. The 2006 had the traction battery replaced under warranty at 125,000 miles before it was totaled in an accident earlier this year.

The 2008 is currently at 111,000 miles and going strong. We just finished replacing a broken rear hatch garnish and the melted rubber switch cover associated with it. The only other issue we've really had with it was the death of the batteries in the TPMS sensors so we replaced all four sensors.

Since last week we are the proud owners of a Prius gen2 my 2009.
She came with 126,262 miles experience; one previous owner and is dealer maintained
Annual mileage: 17,500 miles, give or take a few.
BTW: we live in the Netherlands

Our 2007 is at 145.000. No issues to speak of other than expected items (12V battery, tires, wipers). Change oil every 5k miles. Finally had some suspension work done at 120k just because. I do notice gas milage is down to about 43 - figure it's partially the battery and partially the engine.

    We own 2 gen 2's
2004 Black Prius 164k mi bought about about May 30 of '15 in good condition. Bad radio volume knob broken off.
2006 Desert Pearl Prius 156k mi bought about June 15 of '15 toatled not driveable but would move sometimes briefly.

'04 bought @ 141k mi in FL for $5k had recent pack replacement and bad lower ball joints and worn rack and pinion bushing slight scrape on rear RH door and minor paint scratches & worn small spots of light rust on roof top where previous owner had tied down loads off the used car lot. 1/4 mile from gas station the dash quits and it wont start. Had to use alternate starting procedure from manual and aux batt and traction batt were run low causing bad problems due to idiot detailer hours prior. Very fun driving with no fuel guage or speed but gps sufficed and only ran out of fuel once in northern FL & had to walk 2 miles @ 2am. Had to do intensive troubleshooting on dash regulator guardian / watchdog chip and resolder with special very fine tipped soldering iron bought just for this repair. 12vdc in from board trace was intermittent & freeze spray and cycling power / start button would intermittiently get working along with finger pressure to suspect chip contact foot. Fixed good as new now. No problems this far. Dash fix not for the timid. 2 of my 3 young adult sons replaced lower ball joints but waited a year on the rattling and sloppy steering rack that stuck 3 times in extremely cold icey weather. Boys put a salvage rack one in. Not easy job as very fine splines on steering column to rack coupler make steering recentering a bear. We do our own alignments.

'06 Prius $ 1200 3am CL buy in S. Dallas. Was bought at auction by previous owner who failed to xfer title. Driveable since about 3 months post buying (had to pay $170 or so and wait 4 months to agent to get title in OK as laws are terrible now on title issues) but project car a work in progress. Had sit months. Came with wrong on botton earlier '05 bumper cover & mismatched dented ugly white scraped up hood missing badge emblem. Had a racing mechanic & previous owner hack it up missing loads of fasteners clips, but worst was bad radiator, AC condenser / reciever dryer assy and throttle resolver (found the hard way with erratic engine operation), air intake filter box and the inverter had been replaced with a drained, leaky damaged salvage one with fwd wiring bracket mount sheared off and cracked through lower casting @ rear mount boss. Bought decent mig with spoolgun to fix. Gutted inverter welded ground excess. Good to go now but warning different Gen 2 inverter mount styles exist. Front RH, top of core support and hood latch beyond straightening repair so ordered new entire core assy and cut out and primed, painted & mig welded in aftmkt metal core parts. Had to tweak front end quite a bit with our autobody 13lb slide hammer kit. Hood still messed up but it came bad. Managed to carefully save aux batt but HV battery has been a mess even with careful rehab with so far 6 modules replaced due to sitting so discharged many had problems. Still one intermittient module fails with no ryme or reason after sitting about 11 hours after use but not after overnight (odd) but slightly more often in hot weather which makes sense but code reset with Torque Pro gets her happy again. Suspension is way too soft like many complain of. Thinking of putting '04 oem or sport suspension on this one.
Intermittently it has two weird problems usually but not exclusively on acceleration interchange ramps at ~34 mph with very light throttle touch it seems to be not able to decide whether to accelerate or slow but gently depressing throttle it sometimes hesitates back and fourth between slight acceleration and deceleration and then suddenly accelerates with kind if a clunk. Problem does not reoccur the rest of my 16 mile one way daily trip. Possibly related but does not light up at same time as the hesitation & clunk the three yellow trio ACC VSC / BRAKE or something like this) lights come on all at once. But they reset with power cycling. Also minor 1 or more bad TPMS sender/ battery but readings always look good on TIS probably due to me needing to watch it more as when using TIS we always more concerned with chasing a bad intermittient module.

Just passed 150,000 miles on my 2008 Prius! Figured it's time to check in... :)

    150,000 miles (and change)
    Original HV Battery
    12v Battery changed twice
    40 MPG
    average
    Tires changed three times

Only problem I've had is the auto leveling headlights sensor has failed, and my MPG has really fallen in these New England winter months. I haven't been in a huge rush to get this fixed but I certainly will at some point. I'm incredibly happy with my Prius and will certainly be considering a second whenever that time comes.

Im about to hit 100k on my 2008 Prius. My warranty is to 100k. Should I take it in for a check over? I assume the multipoint inspection would be about $70

2007 Prius T4 (UK spec) owned from new. 100k miles, 10 years. :)

Toyota UK Serviced from new. Fewer miles driven than planned owing to job change and active
    reduction in discretionary miles driven.

    Inverter coolant pump change, recall
    Steering recall

Other than recall(s) and very minor (low speed) accident damage (shop and home repairs),
mild corrosion to bodywork and routine Toyota recommended services and home/shop tire
    rotation:

Semi-synthetic workshop oil as supplied by dealer: Magnetec GTX, Shell Helix F and Shell Helic HX7-AF

5 pairs of tyres (mostly cheap brands, later ones chosen carefully for price/fuel economy) used.

Brake fluid changed every 2 years (Toyota UK dealer scheduled)

Spark plugs changed at 60k (Toyota UK dealer scheduled)

Rear pads and discs - wear and corrosion (sticky calipers on front?)

Air con re-gas ~80k miles. Chosen as the car seemed damp -- later I found a rain water leak (see below). The dealer should have spotted this and fixed it under warrant (arrgh).

Front tracking/wheel alignment, owing to uneven front tire wear at ~90k miles.

Rear exhaust system (OEM Toyota) replacement (it was blowing due to corrosion). ~90k miles.

One new 12V battery (£115 Toyota UK standard price inc. fitting) at 97k miles (9.5 years'

life having run flat twice). 'Red triangle of death' diagnosis simple (not sure if I even bothered to GOOGLE it), temp fix with temporary lead-acid battery in boot (trunk), no drama.

Water ingress into battery well at 97k miles (home fix with Captain Tolley's Creeping Crack Cure and high quality marine Sikaflex). Several large packs of silica gel used before and after issue diagnosed and fixed -- in future will minimise he need to run the air con.

Front brake pads and disks at 97k as front brakes were very noisy and corroded (UK weather, eh?) -- not sure I got good advice from my 9 years' Toyota dealer. I changed dealer and got a little more feedback from the technician via the service desk plus fault codes, but not much (and I am a professional Chartered engineer... so I ask questions and do my research).

Brake Power Assy replacement (due to water damage), second hand from ebay, plus 10A ABS fuse change. £35GBP, plus home rust treatment and respray of battery well and battery brackets.Again my 9 years' dealer only managed to say, 'undiagnosed safety issue...' and new dealer/service centre said, '£450 unit replacement might solve problem...' Anything to avoid a warranty claim, perhaps?

(Home) Centre console trim fix. 97k miles.

Stone chips and the odd rust spot in the bodywork treated, (largely) cosmetically.

98k miles extra air filter change (cheap after-market) -- probably not needed (I started to read Prius chat!), but cheap and bought on a whim.

98k bought and fitted new fuel filler cap after seeing a YouTube recommendation. Probably not needed as the gasket on the original is in great condition (I might sell the old one on eBay).

54 mpg(UK) on MFD summer 2016 (not hypermiling and with air con running, owing to water ingress in recent years)
60.7 mpg(UK) on MFD now (May 2017), average over large 3000 miles and slowly climbing as weather gets milder (modest hypermiling, higher tire pressures, MAF sensor cleaned (DIY with white spirit), one treatment of injection cleaner fuel additive, 6GBP).

The engine seems to be running more smoothly after the MFA clean and injector cleaner fuel additive treatment.

I have never had to top up fluids between 10k (annual) services at dealer.

Transaxle fluid changed at ~99k miles. The dealer's service department said that they regularly see Gen2 Prius cars with 250k miles with original fluid, but were happy to change it for me (122GBP inc. washing the car and inspection). This may have helped improve the mpg.

Throttle body (home) cleaned with acetone, heavy duty paper towel and old toothbrush ~99k.

Hybrid batter fan (home) cleaned ~99k. Did not look like it needed doing.

Planned (additional to Toyota recommended) preventative maintenance to extend life to 180k+ mile target:

Serpentine belt -- not sure if this is a Toyota scheduled service item (hard to tell what Toyota UK actually service and when). [Advisory 'red' when transaxel fluid changed and serveral time before]. Asked local mechanic to quote to compare with expensive dealer quote

(90GBP). I bought a belt and I am considering doing it myself.

PCV valve (at Full+ service when spark plugs are schedulled for change).

    Thermostat.

Water pump and other coolant pumps, perhaps.

I'd be grateful for any view on the prioritisation and validity of these additional planned
preventative maintenance activities, as these are relatively expensive compared to the book value of the car, yet I would like to maximize the life of the car (it is a Prius after all...).

Similarly, are there any additional maintenance activities that I should consider? For example the UK climate (coastal proximity, salt on the roads in winter, rain, etc.) is taking its toll on the underbody condition (e.g. rear sway bar).

I will likely do all the simple maintenance myself from now on (especially intermediate oil changes). I will change to full synthetic oil (same grade), too.

This has been a great car so far. I bought it to make a consumer contribution to carbon reduction, but got so much more. I'd really like to get many more years' and 10k's miles from it. Next will be a Gen 4 plug in Prius or perhaps all electric, who knows?

I will have to start looking out for the oldest Gen 2 Prius thread(s).

have about 147k on an 05 prius - i think about 20k were on a set of michelins that were 5mm diam smaller than recommended, which would mean the car actually traveled less than what the odometer thinks it did .. after about 3 times of replacing failed modules, am doing it again, but the long term solution is a complete pack replacement - currently getting pa080a and p3013 errors however voltages appear to be not indicating a failed cell in a module.
