Hello. I'm looking to pick up a set of rims. I don't understand offset that much and I don't want to guess. I tried to read up on offset on tire rack and other sites but it's too confusing. The rims I'm looking at are : 17 x 7.5 offset +43 My current tire size is 215/45/17. Will this put me flush with the fenders? I'm dropped about 1.25". Thanks for your help.
Ok.. since I'm a hands on type of person, one of my friends showed me how offset works and what the numbers mean relative to the stock offset in person. In this situation, my new rim would move approx 13mm towards the fender. This would make it a little more flush. Hope this helps someone out there.
You can also use this site to see how your new wheel width and offset will be. You'll still need to measure your fender afterward to verify it'll fit, but you're not doing anything aggressive so don't worry about it and get some spacers after you get the wheels and suspension you're happy with.
Using the same size tires in your tread...compared to the stock Prius 17s Stock rims are also 7.5 inches in width...only the 45 mm off set on your and 43 on news are different. The new rim/tire package should make everything only stick out about a tenth of an inch...no worries at all.
It will be more flush than stock but not quite flush. You'll need to run an 8" width and +35 to +40 to be flush up front. Rears are flush at 9" +35
