    Rebooting the thread. Asking those who have purchased and "actually used a portable lithium ion emergency booster to start a dead car (not flashlight, charge devices) how well it worked. What model did you purchase?

    @GregP507
    "It doesn't work through the socket, because the power there is switched, as it is with most cars nowadays, so I use a pair of alligator clips connected to a socket, so I can boost it using the battery terminal in the fuse-box."
    Able to elaborate or post a few pics?

    You jumped a dead battery from the small lithium?

    Well, I've used my jump-start booster pack (see earlier in this thread) at least 4 times, 3 times on a neighbour's Jeep Cherokee when it had a flat battery (3 consecutive days, no re-charging of the pack in the times in-between), and once to start my 2009 Gen II Prius when the 12V Aux-Battery was on its way out, and I've used it a number of times to charge my phone/tablet, and I understand the flash-light feature might be useful during some second-story work if ever the need should arise! o_O It works great, and I even bought one for a friend, and I just looked at the site, and I think the one I have has been superseded by another version, but I would still recommend anyone to get one. The technology is Lithium-Iron Polymer and has none of the disadvantages of the standard Lithium-Iron, so I understand! (…and it's the size of a paper-back!!! :eek:) ;) - hope this helps - Wil

    PS: If you're jumping the battery of a regular gas or diesel engine, you really should jump at the battery terminal posts! (…just a word to the wise! ;)) - since attempting to do it through an aux power socket, will not work, and it's silly to even try! :rolleyes: - on a Prius, you can jump at the fuse-box, since the 12V is only powering the Prius's computers, and there isn't a starter-motor (in the conventional sense of the word) in a Prius! :cautious:

    I have actually used this item many times to jump start an SUV (older Honda CRV) it is very quick once you connect it to the battery you can turn the car on right away.

    I also love that it can hold a charge for about a year, so you can leave it in the car and forget about it.
    It also charges cell phones and has a flashlight, so it is good for emergencies.

    Since I've jump started this way a number of times (I'm not too stupid but have had a Prius for 14 years) I can't imagine how the battery booster wouldn't do the same thing!
