'11 Toyota Prius Two with Android 4.4.4 Kit Kat Head unit Upgrade!

I just got one off Aliexpress. These units only mirror the Android's screen via MirrorLink. I figured I can use Airplay Mirroring to mirror my iPhone's screen if I put the head unit on hotspot mode (which I read it can do). I've used this app before on one of my Android TV boxes and it works just fine.

How does it work with the factory backup camera?

I have a third party backup camera. Read back on the posts in this thread, there are additional harnesses you need to purchase.

 

Does an external mic need to be added? Any other external antenna needed?

If you plan on using a lot of voice features I'd say install a mic.
The only antenna I needed to add was a GPS but that's because i upgraded from a vehicle without one.
Its different for everyone and their needs.

 

I have tried EZCast (EZCast - Android Apps on Google Play) with the Android HU and an iPhone 6S+ (EZCast on the App Store). It works very well and it is fast and responsive. It is not as easy to setup as Airplay, but it gets the job done once setup properly.

 

Is there a special setting to connect to a hotspot with this unit?
I can connect to my home network fine, but my t-mobile hotspot says it has an authorization problem.

 

Not that I'm aware of. I've used the mobile Hotspot on my girlfriends tmobile phone with mine.

 

I use T-Mobile, I don't have any problems at all. What phone are you using?

 

Lots of info here but I was hoping to get a few questions answered. Sorry if these were answered before, I missed them.

I have a 2010 Prius III (I think...bought used so unsure). It has the JBL system with the CD changer. The touchscreen is unresponsive so I'm looking around for an upgrade.

Here's my questions;

Can this HUD be connected to the back up camera and microphone in the car easily? And would the microphone perform the same? As in clarity of voice.

What features would I lose changing to this HUD? The number code on my radio is the E7022. I don't really care about the CD changer and satellite radio.

Can you have 2 smartphones connected via bluetooth like with the JBL Nav radio?

Is the dash cam that you're all talking about connected to the HUD or is that separate? Can you view the image on the screen?

Anything else I need to know? Is it worth it? While it would be nice to have a DVD/media player in there, along with torque app and all that, I just want to have the same functionality as the OEM HUD. I don't care about losing satellite radio or the CD changer.

Is there a different HUD that you'd recommend over this one?

I can't seem to get my aux to work. I'm using the AV in wires with a Y-cable RCA to 3.5mm and I can't figure out how to get it to work...

 

after installing the HU (not from Eric Chen) I lost the steering wheel control both left and right side. Did you guys have to buy PAC or Maestro steering wheel control interface?

 

Did you go into the set up menu and re-assign the button functions?

 

Does everyone use a regular hotspot with this?
I tried an iphone hotspot and it connects once, then never automatically reconnects again. I have to reboot the iphone hotspot and it works again. Anyone why is this possibly happening?

 

I use the T-Mobile Galaxy S6 hotspot, never lost connection. I do have unlimited data.
I drive for LYFT and UBER it's been over a week now, and never lost connection. Except some times I loose the cell connection.

 

Did any one got the AutoHarnessHouse HARNESS work with OEM backup camera?
I did buy and maid it work with steering wheel controls. Unfortunately when I put the car in reverse I get no signal from camera.
Any Suggestions?

Connected my unit tonight and it works great, except for oem backup camera.

Two questions, Can I tether through bt to run waze or any other programs? Right now I have my mobile Hotspot setup, but would rather tether.

2nd question, I want to buy am obd2 scanner, should I get bt or wifi?
