This might be too early, but is there a way we can self install fog lights on the Prius 4 (not the touring) and remove those gray blocks. The lights don't necessarily have to work. This is just to make the car look better.

If it's like the gen3, then all you'll need is to order or obtain the piece (lower grill) with the foglight openings. Then the foglights are pretty standard across Toyota products, so they're easily sourced.

Exactly my plan too--if they can be switched on fine, if not also fine--grey blocks look really crappy. I suspect that in 2017 we may see a '5' which has fog lights.

I posted the same question in another G4 thread. I'm trying to figure out if one buys a 4, then adds 17 inch wheels and the LED fog light kit, they'd essentially own a fully loaded gen 4 car. Sourcing the wheels and light kit is one thing, but I'm trying to determine how one would install the LED fog lights switch inside the car. Can anyone comment if it would mean installing a new turn signal stalk, or would you install a switch to a blank in the lower driver-side dash? In fact, would the fog light kit even come with a switch?

Also, in regards to a Prius 5 package for 2017, that would be great but I'm not holding my breath. I checked the 2015 brochure, and it looks like Toyota packaged the 5 in similar fashion: the 5 was the only Gen 3 Prius that came with fog lights form the factory, at the cost of no sunroof. So you would have needed a Prius 4 in order to mod what would have resulted in a fully optioned car.

On my Gen 3, the foglight kit came with everything you needed, including the switch. I just placed it in one of the blanks. There may not be blanks on the Four or Four Touring. Toyota uses a separate mould for countries with and without the VPNS-OFF button. Also, the 4T will be the one with the blank because it doesn't have the HUD button. Or the 4 without ATP will have a blank because it won't have the Auto High Beam button.

Thanks for info, same feeling I hated this empty gray blocks, I don't know if I'll wait when OEM fog light kit is available from Danny or just use aftermarket LED angel eyes for cosmetic looks or better yet something really usable in foggy situation like Morimoto LED fog light kit, I do have empty blank tab to use.

One possible advantage to an aftermarket solution is that the OEM the fog lights go off when your high beams come on.

If you turn your OEM fogs on when the highs are on nothing happens (perhaps the reason why one poster could not discerner any difference when they were "on").

Perhaps more importantly, I do not think that the OEM fog lights will go on unless your low beams are on too. Others have noted that running fogs without your lows might make sense in some situations.

A simple toggle switch that is independent of your lows or highs would be superior, I think.

I wonder why Toyota set things up as they did?

By law, foglights have to remain off when the high beams are on so that shouldn't happen. In addition, there's also a law that states foglights can only be turned on when the low beams are on (which defeats the purpose of true foglights). As a result, I think most non-European cars sold in North America have "foglights" that are really more like "driving lights". That is, they're mostly cosmetic.

I want to add t hose fog lights on there, but actually use them as DLR instead and keep them always on.

Is it (or will it be) possible to have these lights on a Prius Three

It's a switch on the stalk and not a button. I remembered it from my test drive and confirmed it on the owners manual.

I have that SAME dilemma and I think I'm leaning towards the 4 Touring. Here a few minor (but important) things that distinguish the 4 and 4T.

On the 4, the parking light is an amber light that is essentially the turn signal that is in the headlight housing. On the 4T, it is an LED accent light that is in the headlight housing and the turn signal is just the turn signal. I believe the DRL for the 4 and 4T are different as well.

There is also some suspension different between the 4 and 4T as well... I'm leaning toward the 4T for now and forgoing HUD and sunroof.

Can you elaborate a little on any suspension differences on the Touring models as compared to the 15" models?

As I casually observe side photos of all 2016 Prius models, it appears to me that there is slightly less gap above the tire in the wheel well on the Touring models (this, even with the slightly smaller tire diameter on the 17's). That would tend to suggest a (little bit) lower car, over all.

Has anyone compared measurements of the stance between models? For instance, vertical measurements from the ground to the front emblem and from the ground to the rear spoiler (or any other fixed point) would be useful.

I will Jp. I reached out to the company about these lights. They are currently in production and will begin selling them soon. He is supposed to let me know when they are available. I am hoping the harness is already down there. If not just the look of them would be better than the blacked out part. I am sure I could just wire in a switch. I will update as more information becomes available. I know group buys have to be set up with Admin but maybe I could order a bunch if others are interested.
