Flattery will get you everywhere. Audi To Become More Like Tesla - “More Agile, Faster And Taking More Risks”
Interesting to me, that it was VW's CEO that suggested they should think like Tesla. (Less Consumer Fraud?)-just kidding. Audi's representative seemed to down play the value. Going as far as to suggest that as Tesla grows, and invests into manufacturing and focuses on profits it will be Tesla that homogenizes into more of mainstream automaker. I think it's probably FAIR to say Tesla hasn't been fast, but as a start up dealing with what is essentially a whole new product, I don't think that should be expected. I think it's UNFAIR to say Tesla hasn't been perceived as being "risk takers", what they have done in advancing their product has been bold and IMO came with a lot of risk. Really sounds like Audi, advancing or promoting Audi. But tinged with a bit of sour grapes or jealousy.-The caveat being I didn't hear the whole speech and am only taking article quotes out of context. - Tesla has created the most heralded, unique, and creative automotive product available to the public. At this point the audience may still be exclusive, based primarily on buy in cost, but I'd bet Audi board members would poke an eye out to have a product as dynamic and talked about as Tesla. The truth IMO is somewhere in the middle. Mainstream large automakers cannot match the independence and creativity possible with an operation like Tesla. Tesla as of yet, cannot match the production and mainstream cost/product ratio of large automakers. Tesla probably wants to be a little more like a large automaker, and large automakers WOULD be wise to attempt to match the boldness and creativity of Tesla, despite the constraints that being a major automaker automatically impose.- My opinion.
I want the q6 with the Tesla MX without that price tag. Hope the vw eBus comes out with awd since I don't want to pay too much.
