Modifying the New Car

I think I recall paying $250 or so for my high gloss 3m roof wrap. FYI.

 

Good deal. Doesn't come cheap here in Cali

 

Granted I've had many, many cars done up at this custom shop and have sent them lots of business over the years, so maybe the going rate is much more..?

Either way I think the gloss roof added a nice touch of class to the car (glass sunroof look) and like I said I was getting compliments from a lot of folks

Unfortunately I shredded all my old files when I traded the Persona in and don't feel like going through all my old posts but it's possible I paid closer to $300? Not sure though.

 

the roof is probably one of the easiest to wrap. It just take some patience and correct tool. Not hard at all.

BTW, what color is your car? It doesnt look "pearl" to me. More like just white, which i like.

 

Hey K, a couple of other comments about your possible roof wrap.

1) How would you handle the area of the A pillars? Would you wrap the pillars all the way down to the hood? I'm guessing there is a line where you could leave the pillars unwrapped all the way back to the rear window, but (personally) I don't think I would like that painted strip between the roof and the side glass. To each their own - of course. Thoughts?

2) B_P got me thinking about the gloss black as opposed to the fiber wrap. The gloss would match the gloss black of the tinted windows very well. I'll bet that is a cool look!

I can't see your posted pic ('because I'm still using Windows XP and I'm stuck with IE7) but I'll bet the gloss black roof wrap looks nice! What was the base color of your Persona?

I'm not very familiar with the wrap material (vinyl?) but surely it is much softer than paint. On a gloss surface I'm guessing you need to be very careful with it's care to prevent spider webbing the appearance? Gentle washing is recommended, right?

 

Drive thru carwash was used prob weekly with the vinyl roof to no ill effects. Occasionally I would spray and wipe it down with tire shine to remove hard water marks and that would keep it nice and shiny. It's amazing how durable it is..

 

I'd love a phone app that when after taking a picture, loaded it to a national database for people that tint their front side windows beyond legal, I say that as a road bicyclist, if I can't see your eyes as I'm going by if you are on my right I'm going to make you show me your eyes, I'm not getting run over by some cop wannabe or outright criminal.

And when it's a police car.... justice might prevail.

I just put a deposit on a 2016 Three. Will the same center caps that fit my 2010 III 15" wheels also fit the 2016 Three 15" wheels?

In the "black and white" spirit, I just ordered some black plate frames from

Sleek License Plate Frames, Custom License Plate Frame - LICENSEPLATES.TV

I got some custom chrome frames (with a 16-letter URL etched in black) from these guys for my wife's 2010 and they still look brand new, so I expect the quality will be top notch.

I would like to figure out a cleaver solution for mounting my EzPass (for tolls) since there is so much going on up by the mirror. In my las car I could hide the ugly white plastic behind the mirror. Plus I am not sure if the black dots printed on the window will interfere with the signal.

If I go full OCD I will black out the orange JBL logos that reflect into the window.

Speaking of OCD, can anyone I this thread confirm the Shifter (w R N D) is not illuminated in any way. I am about ready to dismantle that thing to look for a non-working LED inside .

But most importantly a hitch for a bike rack before spring arrives, and a second eyebolt so the canoe looks even more at home on the roof than in the water.

Hi Everybody! This is my first Hybrid, was a Speedster then I became a dad......
1. Changed all interior lighting to LED
2. Hardwired BlackBox Dashcam to fuse box
3. Hardwired Cobra Radar/laser detector to fuse box. (I came from a Genesis V8 sedan, reason why I have one)
3. Minor add-ons like Broadway Mirror, thinking about black Plasticdippin emblems, matte black lincese plate frames, and maybe led reverse light and turn signals.
4. Getting 3M tint tomorrow at 9am, 5% rear and 15% front

Just checking out what everyone else is doing so I can have some ideas. Keeping with the Panda (black and white) theme.

 

+1 roof wrap, don't know about F-Sport badge , overall looks fantastic.

Got future plans for fog lights location? I have not decided yet with mine, go OEM or aftermarket lens.
