Got it March 3rd, put 255km on it and so far been getting 4.2L/100km first tank of gas.

 

Yes but being prepped. Debated the Moonstone issue (with my wife and kids) but in for a penny in for a pound: if you are going with the white 'bidette' then Moonstone works to me. If you are going with black then perhaps the black applique. Even in the latter case, the steering wheel white area jars. Better to go with the full hundred white!

 

Have you guys not seen the store Black and White market? The white console goes well with black

Picked up my Prius 4 from Dianne Whitmire at Carson Toyota yesterday. Advanced Technology Package. Premium Convenience Package, Center console Appliqué and more. Flew to Southern California and then drove it back to Northern Cal non stop ( 400 miles ). As an owner of a 2010 Prius and a 2012 Plug in I have to say that the 2016 is incredible. Thanks Dianne !!

How idd you get 67 MPG? i only got around 57 ish and ive done 260km so far

Awesome I wonder if its because we have colder temps here and more hills that im getting much less mpg then you guys.

There is recurring confusion on this point, although a lot of it goes back to uninformed speculation by reporters during the unrevealing Vegas reveal. So just to review the facts as best I know them regarding batteries and trunk configurations:

1. The base Two is the ONLY Gen4 Prius with NiMH batteries. All other models have Li-ion.
2. ALL batteries are located under the back seat, not the trunk floor.
3. The ONLY reason for lowered trunk floor is that half the models (Two Eco, Four, Four Touring) leave out the spare tire. This was apparently to goose EPA numbers, the Eco in order to achieve the extra MPG, the Fours in order to avoid having to report lower MPG due to added weight from other equipment.
4. The Two, Three, and Three Touring have a higher load floor and smaller trunk solely to accommodate the space-saver spare.
5. Again, nothing to do with batteries - both Threes use Li-ion, both Threes have a spare tire, both Threes have the non-sunken trunk floor.

 

A note about the backup camera on new cars: it's not a replacement for using your rear or side view mirrors, or more importantly, turning your head and looking backwards while you backup. The intention of the backup camera is to let you see what's directly behind the car below the rear window. You know, the part that you that can't normally see. It's there to see if there is debris that you are going to hit, or an animal, or most importantly: a child. I see too many people on here commenting about how they have to retrain themselves to look at the image on the screen while backing up. That means they've missed the point of the camera and are using it incorrectly. It's an adjunct, not a replacement.

 

Great point. It will take some work for me to retrain myself. Backing up in the Gen 3 was always a challenge, often nearly backed into a tree or a rock. Managed to learn to look in four places (both side mirrors, rear mirror, and turning my head). At least all of those were at more or less the same level. One looks DOWN to see the camera, plus it tends to be mesmerizing at first. Add to that the backup beeping plus the insistent bonging of the chime because the dog is sitting in the passenger seat without fastening her seat belt and things get pretty busy!!

 

I'll admit I may look like a crazy person with all the head turning and bobbing I do while backing up in my gen 3.

 

My mom is like that in her Honda accord, she says 'just look at the camera!'. And yes I know I got all these sensors that detect pedestrians and what not but I rather look around and look at the camera.

 

Use the cameras and sensors first.

If they sense or see something, then don't bother looking, your blocked.

When the cameras and sensors say all clear, then you need to look.

 

sadly, i feel that this is how the new generations are being taught to back up. it's bad enough that old people can't turn their heads, but a see a lot of young people staring at the dash as they back up, it's scary.
i have had too many instances where someone walking along toward my car gets there just as i've started to back up. waiting to see them in the screen could be too late.

 

I work on a college campus and there is no way I would trust a camera only. 90% of the students walking around have their heads down staring at their phones or earbuds in. You would (maybe) be shocked by the number of students that will walk right into the side of a vehicle here on a daily basis. It's sad really.

 

Was there a traditional new car smell? Maybe they've gone back to more traditional plastics? I was pleasantly surprised with our third gen, little or no off-gassing plastic aroma. They touted the plastics as being plant based.

 

Except not so exactly for Canada and probably other countries.
It's the same car, BUT we have three models. The first is the "Prius", with NiMH battery (all batteries are under the rear seat).
The second is the "Prius Technology Model", with LiIon battery. The third is the "Prius Touring Model", with LiIon battery. This one uses the 17" wheels. The other two use the 15" wheels. Optional wheels can be had, at great expense I expect, from the dealer. There are no option packages for the Touring Model, though wheels, block heater, etc. can be installed. The fancy auto protecion systems (lane keep assist, parking, etc) are available in the first two models as I recall.
It gets strange regarding the spare tyre as well. The first two models get it, and the Technology Model has an "optional" tyre repair kit.

You've got a brand new car, brand new tires, maybe a few impulse drives: commendable results!

We're surprisingly similar right now, with a 3rd gen with 215/45R17 Pilots (well worn). But, I'm trying hard, lottsa long easy drives, using a block heater. And I doubt it's sustainable for the duration of the tank:
