How much for u guys to ship the steering wheel when you get it from Rakuten global from Japan? I ordered a few items along with the steering wheel, a shift knob, a few chrome piece for the car, they are very light. And I was quoted $100 for the shipping to US. I think it's alil expensive.

I use to order from Raluten Japan and from what I remember I paid about $50ish for shipping.

I'm sure it all depends on size and weight.

Those of you have experienced with Rakuten global, i need your help. I placed an order, seller reply with a shipping fee, I wrote back asking about shipping rate being too expensive. And additional shipping info, didn't hear back from them for 3 days. What should I do?

if you told them the shipping is too expensive for you, I think they just assumed you wanted to cancel the order /

I say cancel the order and go somewhere else. If they really wanted your business they would have replied right away.

any technique to remove the air bag harness? Just use flat head screw driver, push down and pull out?

Then once up, use the small flat head between the connector & the metal frame of the airbag......give a slight twist. That's it

I just did the MIT piano black steering wheel change over, I follow the instruction on this post, THANKS. I have no trouble removing the stock leather steering wheel, the nut is tight once loosen the wheel pops right out, I don't even need the steering wheel puller.

Start to finished about an hour plus, the MIT is heavier than the stock (2.2 lbs vs 2.1 lbs stock), I have a hard time put back the bottom plastic cover, but it's tight fit. The steering wheel NOT center at all, I have to get alignment done again now it's perfectly straight.

It's a little scary and shaky removing the air bag, I never ever remove an air bag before, but at last I did it and I am happy with the finished fit and look. I end up drove to my brother (Honda dealership master tech) to get the alignment done. Now it's perfectly center.

    Before,

    After,

Alignment print out, front toe now centered at 0.10, the rear toe is still within spec not adjustable...it needs shims to correct the toe.

Here is the photo of the latest alignment sensor mount, it mounts into the inner groove of the tire, no more scratch rims by the sensor hooks. Awesome technology.

Did someone leather wrap the jdm or buy it like this? I like it 100% leather wrapped. Looks super clean.

I like this steering wheel 100% leather wrapped. Any idea where to get it?

Just wanted to give a shout out that I just installed a new steering wheel using your instructions. They were spot on. Years later they are still changing lives. Thank you!

Success! I now have a leather-wrapped wheel from an Advanced model.

The directions in this thread made this very easy. I didn't need a puller to remove the steering wheel, but it took some force. Once I cracked loose the nut which holds the wheel on, I loosened it a few turns, but kept it on so that I could pull hard without the wheel flying loose. This also kept the wheel aligned on the splines.

As another poster pointed out, alignment of the new wheel isn't ultra-critical, becaus the splines are spaced pretty far apart.

Disconnecting the 12V battery is definitely a must.

For those who have been using the wheel for several years, any complaints on the durability of the wooden part, especially in SoCal summer weather and cold winter? Are they cracking? Thanks

I love my Toyota Leather Wheel. Skipped on the JDM and am happy with my decision. No-one even knows it isn't the right wheel for my car. No one ever says anything about my seats either.
