I won't damage my car if I push the pedal to the medal in ECO mode? What about the break in thingy? I heard we shouldn't accelerate really fast like the first few thousand miles or whatever it was.

nah, the car will protect itself. In fact try this: with it in P put the "pedal to the metal" and hold it there. You'll notice that the ICE starts up and runs at a high but safe fast idle; not screaming at max rpm redline like a regular car would do. Why? It's fly-by-wire with a computer between your foot and the ICE that controls everything (and protects itself).

Enjoy your new techno-thrill ride! (y)

Just got a 2016 Prius C this week. Had to retire a 2004 matrix I really loved due to it was time.

I cant believe this automobile! Weird to go from San Marcos CA to Disneyland and got 59mpg! And that was at 63mph with cruse and AC running! And stop and go freeway driving it actually increases on MPG!

Is the 2016 Prius C a Gen 4? Also only have Traction(on/off), Eco Drive & Eco Mode button. What is PWR? I see an indicator with PWR on the display but no button or switch?

    Tnks!

Only the Prius hatchback 2016 are Gen 4s.

The Prius C does not have a Power mode. Only Eco and EV
But I had one before, just floor it, it has plenty of power

Just started driving a new Prius Three - bought it on Saturday, so I've only been in the car for two days. Here's what I'm getting so far, though:

    Trip A is 188.2 miles, 56.1 MPG
My commute from home to work this morning was 37.3 miles, and I scored 63.9 MPG on that segment! And this was on a mix of Normal and ECO modes, max speed of 66 MPH, average of 44 MPH.

Also, with those 188 miles on the tank, the fuel gauge only just now came down to 7/8 full. The range estimator thinks I have around 650 miles left. I suspect that number will fall more quickly than the miles rise, though.

I upgraded from a 2007 (Gen-2) that I'd driven for about 163,000 miles. Its average over the last few years doing the exact same commute route was around 48 MPG. And at the same number of miles on a tank, the gauge would usually be sitting at half-full.

what does the "full tank" range tell you? I was always able to push 500-520 on the Gen3 with about a gallon to spare

Lets not forget, preliminary reports are that the 2016 Prius mpg fuel display is not accurate and is over stating mpg by 5 -6 %. If the gauge reads 52 mpg you are below 50 mpg by calculating based on miles driven and gallons of gas consumed. So, don't rely on the dash gauge for a true mpg reading, do the math. I normally on our 2010 Prius have the pump set at the lowest setting and when it shuts off by auto shut off thats it no more gas in the tank. Fairly consistent mpg results, by the way the 2010 Prius is off by 5-6% over reading as well on the dash mpg s. Infact in winter its even more off by as much a 8%.

The MPG display always shows higher than what we really average or are there times where it shows us less than our true MPG numbers?

If it's like third gen, and it's starting to look that way, it'll always be optimistic, on average around 7.5%.

So it's safe to say for both G3 & G4 the dash MPG display will overstate the real MPG by 3 or so.

My Gen4 dash cumulative MPG is about 4.4% higher than real calculated number (63.4 vs 60.7)

While the tank was reading full, the car estimated 881 miles. Now that I'm down to slightly below half, it seems to have centered on 720 miles of range (current trip + remaining).

This is exactly what I needed to hear. I currently do not own a Prius, nor have I ever driven a Hybrid. After test driving one, on a whim, I was hooked. I'm all about finding out all I can and then some before I buy and have receiveyd boundless information from this chat forum. You, as a first time Prius owner can provide the feedback I've been waiting to hear. I still plan on taking a longer test drive and in researching the trim options, I think I want the 3 with the Advanced Technology Package. Thanks so much for your input. (y)
