I used some standard blue painter's tape on one of these. Some of the chrome laminate lifted off the inner edge of the ring.
I've used color-rite in the past but for my last project (speed triple below) I went with these folks: Spray Paint | Aerosol Touch Up | AutomotiveTouchup and really like the results. I just noticed they now offer the green line of tape the OP is talking about. That answers my question on pricing. NOTE: they aren't kidding about respirators for the clearcoat but you really should use one with the paints too. I, unfortunately, found their clear isn't really gasoline proof so I use the KK7 clear from ColorRite Motorcycle Paint for the tank. I've found the rattle cans deliver the same quality as a low end gun but with much less to go wrong. Color-rite sells pints and quarts for guns if you prefer that route. They didn't carry the Triumph red so I went automotive which also allows me to get touch up pens from any auto store. Sprayed in 2007 Ford Mustang Red (fresh, no polishing yet):
Thanks guys for that tape I did a lot of research and the tape is very easy on the chrome.. @ fotomoto green tape 3M Precision Masking Tape 06529 is much much better… $5-6 bucks @ Swampthingg man the masking is a really hard on the inside of the ring And thanks Mr Bigh.
