    After giving it more thoughts, I will have to disagree.

    If buying my SRECs allow them to sell more trucks/SUVs or other coal rolling activities, then there is no social benefit.

    Except RECs don't cancel out vehicle emissions of the spread sheet. Just the ones from producing electricity.

    To sell more trucks, GM is building the Bolt, and Toyota the Mirai.

    ...it's a little like the Clean Power Plan, which is on hold, but some states may want to go nuclear which may allow keeping more coal fired plants up. Virginia we are waiting for the nuclear is wonderful speech. CPP delay may have weakened the argument...not sure.

    Another possible way to look at it, in the CPP the rate based target, my understanding achieves much lower CO2 levels. But many states like the cap and trade aspect of mass based target so they can buy or sell the credits. Net effect though is less CO2 reduction. Actually you can also buy and sell credits in the rate based scheme, but it's harder THEY tell me.
