Curious? Does anyone know if the generation 4 Prius' has less road noise and better acceleration? My generation 3 is quite noisy inside. Barnabas
quieter, but i think accell is about the same. maybe a little better from 0-30, and a little worse from 30-60.
Toyota attempted to lower road noise, (that is what road tests are for, to see if YOUR roads are quieter) but fuel economy still is their focus, not acceleration.
To the limits of an ad hoc, cell phone recorded video and my test with our 2010 Prius, less than 100 ms. difference . . . too close to call. Bob Wilson
Not sure if its been reported, but I bet its likely the gen4 'eco" model has less sound dampening material to save weight.
it hasn't been reported, but it would be nice to know. toyota claimed they saved the weight with no spare and lithium battery. oh, and no rear wiper, that sucker is heavy.
Others have it, see the Four Touring pics in this post, it has it: 2016 Prius - let's hear from buyers | Page 21 | PriusChat
yes we do. and the specifics given to danny about the weight difference. but hey, this is the internet. you can toss anything out there and it will stick somewhere. much easier than facts.
I have a 2010 II trim and just bought a 2016 Two, not II because only 2010 used uppercase Roman numerals for model designation, trim. The new Two is noticeably quieter. It feels the same in ECO mode in terms of acceleration, but does handle better (less roll) on turns with the wishbone rear suspension. I'm getting real world 52mpg while my Gen 3 is in the mid/high 40's. The styling is growing on me- love the interior (bit of a Star Trek look), but at first was a bit put off by the angry Japanese cartoon face of a front. I am an artist/designer and usually insist on a balance of form and function, but the function of the efficiency outweighs the bit of a smartass look. Anyway, I recommend it- a definite step up from my Gen 3!
