Loving my 2016 on day one, but a question: When I picked the car up last night I noticed that the shifter was not illuminated either by a spot light like on my wife's 2010, or internally. The knob is a pretty blue plastic that sure looks like it should be illuminated from the inside. Thoughts? Is mine just not working right? I would hate to think this car was not perfect Thanks! Just a bump. I am really curious if the shift lever on the 2016 is supposed to be illuminated. Anyone?
that would be surprising, given how much trouble toyota went to on the gen 3 to out that light in the overhead console. i will be interested to hear what others say.
no fact here but based on some night photos of the interior. No illumination on the shifter knob. I'll post these links, if they pop up again, which I am referring to.
I have noticed the same issue, the shifter is in the dark. Given that it is in a slightly different position than my Gen-2, I find myself searching for it.
That's strange ! Here is a pic of German language manual . It clearly shows the shifter illumination ! Maybe it's just not as effective as in gen. 3 !?
I just ran out of juice -- I have the manual on my ipad -- but light #2 in the headliner is something like "shifter light" (not the exact words). I will be looking for an LED up there (again), but if it does exist, it sure isn't working well. Perhaps it got displaced by the safety connect thingy?
Unfortunately, rather than not as effective, it my be that it's been omitted. The one photo I can find of the overhead interior map light doesn't appear to show the little recessed LED light that would illuminate the shifter. And I didn't bother to look when I sat in one. Can someone take a photo of their interior map lights?
The "Shift lever light" (LED) is there. The issue (for me) is that what it really illuminates is the wireless charging area on the console. The Shift Lever is only slightly illuminated. To my eye the shift lever appears in the shadows, rather than being directly illuminated. Perhaps an alignment issue of the LED. Not the end of the world. --Rob Bond
I had a Prius Two for a couple weeks and the first thing my wife noticed at night was the ambient lighting that hit the shifter and the phone tray. Very interesting.
My 2016 has the shifter light - although (as others have observed) it's actually directed more to the area for wireless charging, but does just barely illuminate the shifter. It is located in the overhead/map lighting unit
