Local dealership is selling the gen 4 Prius Four Touring for $32.5k. Should I buy it at that price?

Costco refers you to the dealer in your area, that has agreed to sell the car at the price. Yes, It's nationwide.

 

If we have 6 months of low gas prices, the dealers will be dealing....big time IMHO, so if you can wait, wait, the most you will lose is time.

 

Stop in NJ or the Beltway if they are in by Feb

 

More competition now. Malibu hybrid is a contender, accord hybrid is up there, sonata hybrid, etc...

Hello, first post. Don't own one yet but we are looking. I tried the Costco Auto Program today and here are the results.

Broadway Toyota in Portland, OR offered a Costco price of $24,212 ($25,273 MSRP). However, invoice is $23,583 and thought the costco price would be $300-800 less than that.

Is my assumption right that this wouldn't be a good deal or are there certain fees I haven't taken into account for?

 

One thing to consider is whether you are calculating the invoice accurately. Not only considering the cost of accessories, but also the Toyota Dealer Advertising fee, which varies by the region of the country you are in. So at my dealership the regional advertising fee (which the dealer considers part of the car's invoice cost) was over $400. I mention this if you are using dealer invoice to judge the value of the sale price. The TDA fee was something that I did not consider.

 

I skipped all accessories/options and I'll look into what TDA we have for Oregon. Is the invoice listed below considered dealer invoice?

If you are looking at the base Prius two, then yes those are the numbers minus Accessories and TDA. Yes, you really need to consider the vehicle accessories too. (floor mats, console applique, etc.) FYI, the free Edmunds Build and Price service has the invoice costs for accessories [I found a few small discrepancies relative to what dealer listed on their invoice for some accessories;Carpet Floor Mats/Cargo Mat @ 174 (vs Edmunds $140), Door Edge Guards @ $94 (vs Edmunds $75), Wheel Locks @ $50 (vs Edmunds $40)]

 

The Prius 4 touring is well loaded. I'm not sure it's worth adding another 2K for the Premium Convenience Package.. I've had a couple quotes for 29500 with msrp 31600. I'm in Ohio

 

No, see my post in 2016 pricing. Get at least 4 dealers to quote you and pick one in a nearby state or where you go on vacation. I got the USAA pricing plus some extra off. Turn down all dealer added items including sticker dealer added options and walk away at least twice. Sell you used car on your own. Take a witness to closing and do not let the finance man distract you with BS. These guys are good at the head fake. Sign this, oh you are looking for a house?
