Hopefully it is a quick fix and covered by warranty. Ours was. Good luck.

What a load of horse manure!
If you plug a Prius -- or any electrical device -- into an overloaded electrical outlet, the result will be a thrown circuit breaker. It won't damage the vehicle! That's complete nonsense.

Your Prius charger draws approximately 12 Amps at 110Volts. A typical household circuit, from the breaker panel, supports 15 Amps. If you run two vehicle chargers from the same circuit at the same time, the result is a 24 Amp draw, which should trip the circuit breaker. That won't damage your car.

I just bought a 2015 Prius c off the showroom floor a month ago (Feb. 2016) It's now at the dealer for the 4th time with the "check hybrid warning". The service technician keeps saying "I don't know how the start the car". It seems to happen when it's cold outside. The technician told me once they "fix" it this time we shouldn't have anymore cold weather so he won't see me back until next year. Are you kidding me???????

That sounds like a different problem, this thread is for the Prius Plug-in. The Prius Plug-in is a bit different in that it has an on-board charger to which handles converting an outlet's AC to DC to charge the car's battery, and the Prius Plug-in also has a lithium-ion battery whereas the Prius C has a nickel-metal hydride battery. I would suggest posting in the Prius C subforum to hopefully get more answers. Hopefully it came with a warranty!

I have a Prius 2012 Three, not III because only 2010 used uppercase roman numerals for model designation (Not a PIP) some 72,000 miles and I received the message "Check hybrid system, stop the vehicle in a safe place" while driving 45MPH. It suddenly came on and vehicle lost power. I was unable to go higher than 23MPH. I towed it to the dealership and they said there are multiple failed codes and it is under warrenty and will be ready tomorrow. Didn't seem like they want to be specific about the problem, so I asked what's the issue. They said quickly something "Inverter.. all codes are failing... It's about $3000 to fix...."

Not sure, I last time I went to them for service was probably september 2015. I have been going to them according the schedule services. I remember that was some recall a few years ago but they are never specific about anything. Ever since they renovated and got new buildings they got really service hungry, always aggressively sale service to me. For that reason I started going to Kwik Kar, they seem to be fast and informative.

I went to pickup my Prius, I asked if there was a recall on the inverter? The service advisor said "No, otherwise, it would have been flashing on your profile".
I went home and searched for "Prius Inverter recall". It must have been the one I went for a couple years ago as I remember it had something to do with software. It says "Year 2010-2014 Prius vehicles to update the motor/generator control ECU and hybrid control ECU software..... the problem resides in the Intelligent Power Module (IPM), which is inside the Hybrid Inverter Assembly....... due to problems with the software, certain transistors in the IPM could become damaged when operating the vehicle under high-load driving conditions, such as accelerating during highway driving......If this occurs, various warning lamps on the instrument panel will illuminate. In most cases the vehicle will enter a fail-safe mode, resulting in reduced motive power in which the vehicle can still be driven for short distances. In limited instances, the motor/generator ECU could reset, causing the hybrid system to shut down, resulting in the vehicle stopping while being driven and increasing the risk of a crash."

It was exactly what happened. I did a sudden floor of the gas paddle going from about 40mph to 50mph, as soon as slow down after over taking another car, the lights lit up. Then, I couldn't go faster than 23mph.
The paper work says: IPM Failure. Repaired inverter by replacing IPM.
I am thinking even after the software recall, there is still a problem.

I just got the "check hybrid system" message on my 2015 PiP. I looked in the user manual and it just indicated there might be a problem with the brake locking, then looked at this thread. I called the dealer today and they just said "wow, it's a new car" but wouldn't speculate what the problem was, however suggested I not drive it until I bring it in on Monday. I'll post further after I bring it for service.

A few days ago, we got the dread warning that we should stop the car and call. We did, and were told that we should have our 2012 PIP towed to the nearest dealership. We did, to Beaverton Toyota in Oregon. They found that it needed a new inverter, replaced it, all within two days. We were back on the road within 50 hours. They didn't even charge for the gas we used in the free loaner. Oh yeah, and we were in the dealership for only 5 minutes!
Now comes the really perplexing part: since then, when fully charged, the gauge shows 12.4 miles available (before the breakdown, it was showing about 8.7, which is normal for this time of year in western Oregon). I haven't yet had the opportunity to test it to see whether we really do get more miles on a charge -- of course, we always get more than the gauge estimates, even in winter.

when they disconnect the 12v, it resets the estimate to factory default.

Is that the first PiP that needed an inverter replaced?

So after getting the "check hybrid system, stop vehicle in a safe place", I took my 2015 PiP to the local Toyota dealer. They found 05 code P0D67 and they think it is due to a power outage that happened the other night while the car was plugged into the charger. They cleared the code and sent me home - will see if this issue comes up again.

    Soooo...
Yesterday morning took the car in and the dealer said it was because we had a power outage the other day, he cleared the error code and sent me home. I charged the car and that evening went to take the car out, and had the same error. Back to the dealer. Sigh.
