Not sure if this has been answered, but anyway: Wayne Gerdes at CleanMPG has done mpg tests on a 2016, and found it's mpg display accurate, even slightly pessimistic. That said, it's a prototype, and is destined to be crushed ( ) in a week or two, so hopefully production cars will continue with this accuracy.

I subscribe to this magazine: 2016 Toyota Prius hybrid review and test drive with price, horsepower and photo gallery

The Prius has come a long way between the shoe-shaped first generation and the wildly-styled fourth generation. A lot has changed, but the spirit of the original Prius lives on.

The important change? Toyota has made the Prius fun to drive. I said it – fun. Unlike the previous generations that were capable as wheeled appliances, but lacked any of the interesting driving characteristics that actually make a car enjoyable behind the wheel, the new Prius handles well and delivered enough power to surprise me.

Found an amusing/ and a bit crude article from jason at jalopnik . com about the new 2016 Prius. His take on the center console (which is a big improvement over the prior generation) is hilarious. "kinda looks like a ....." find the answer in a photo around two thirds down the web page.

The 2016 Toyota Prius Is An Enthusiast’s Car | Tip of the week

It's actually an overall positive review of the car, despite some of the funny jabs.

Of all the people who test drove the 2016 Prius at the November 8 event, Jason was the only one with the presence of mind to record a maximum acceleration test on a video phone:

Such a brilliant idea, some of us in the above thread have been able to do 'back of the envelope' analysis from this sliver of data. In effect, Jason has described me and a few others . . . mileage enthusiasts.

i see it in my own thirty something kids. they could care less about cars, live in the city and take public trans or uber or zip or bicycle or walk. that being said, toyota is chasing the same amount of drivers as everyone else. chasing older drivers is a losing proposition.

Think about who those people are, especially when gas prices go up again.

Someone looking to replace their SUV with a car will have a choice between an ordinary sedan and a standout hatchback.

"standout" ...... meaning, out of the ordinary, peculiar, as in appearance?
My preference would be an "outstanding" vehicle. There are a number of outstanding looking sedans and hatchback available.

"standout" meaning exceptional / far better than ordinary, is what I assumed.

The thread is quiet, so I'll make an additional comment just for the sake of discussion.

I know words have different meaning to different people, but where I am from, "standout" is not exclusively associated with "exceptional," quality or favorability. For example, a house painted bright orange with bright green shudders in an affluent neighborhood, WILL "stand out." Realtors would generally consider such a house a deterrent.

I'd prefer an "outstanding" product (a car in this discussion) that is "exceptional" (or "better than ordinary") in most categories: appearance, ride, performance, handling, fuel efficiency, emissions and price. I simply said there are many sedans and hatchbacks that meet that criteria. Admittedly, some better than others in one category or another.

where i'm from, standout is the opposite of stand in, which implies a fill in or replacement. so stand out would be the original or primary product.

Well, I recognize when I have been corrected. But it did generate some activity on this thread.

bisco, as normal, I appreciate your comment. Clearly, "standout" conjured up a meaning of "conspicuous" in my mind.
Oh, BTW, I saw a blond today with two outstanding "standouts." She was "conspicuous" too. :D

Seriously, perhaps our nation is becoming more politically polarized simply because we do not understand the meaning of words that are spoken.
