I've read of at least two, different approaches. However, Edmunds is pretty good about giving consistent results and I believe their 2010 number is 9.8. I got a similar number with GPS. I've seen slightly over 10 seconds from another source.

Agreed but I'm still working on my new HEM mini OBD.

And how are 'control laws' implemented? <grins>

I placed my order for the Gen 4 Four Prius with all the extras - technology package, safety package, etc. I told the salesman I wanted the top of the line audio system and he said that there were very few of those being offered, for some reason. Anyway I believe it comes with the technology package. And somehow they slip the sunroof into one of those packages. They were very vague about where exactly the car was at this time. They said that there were 2 with the exact same options and that neither was heading down to the southern states. But, they said by my placing a firm offer for one, it would be diverted to this dealership. The sticker price was $33,000 and they would give no discount, since it had to be special ordered. However, I did get them to give me 4 years of included service, instead of just two. What hurt me though is that the offer they made me for my 2012 in November of $16,000 went down to $12,000. They said that going into another calendar year and the extremely low gasoline prices at this time were the reasons. I believe the real reason was they knew they had a fish on the line and were reeling him in.The main feature I was looking for, other than the upgraded audio, was the parking assist. Since I have reached my mid 70s I have been bumping into more and more things. Hopefully this will solve that problem.

    badly;)

Really coming from a software world, well developed for this would have simple software, with a look up table for parameters of engine, mg2, and battery. When one was changed you just change the parameters.

From 0 hp to peak torque (3600 rpm in gen IV) eco, power, and normal would set mg1 loading to be best for efficiency. This also works out to best NVH. Set engine hp and flow to battery would be about battery SOC and efficiency. Power mode would set a higher soc here, then normal or eco, so that there is power availble if called upon.

Then it gets a little tricky. For eco mode I would follow the bsfc determination to raise hp to a cut off, NVH be dammed. This gives a lower peak, which would give a different pedal mapping. You may even make it not linear like it is now to give feedback when hp requests become less efficient.

For Power and Normal I would swap to the nvh curves of the engine, and implement virtual gears, but power would go grind at max hp if floored. Power would extend and use more battery soc, and charge it more. Both power and normal should be linear. They aren't now.

Anyway, reports are nvh are better with the gen IV, so I'm guessing control laws have changed, but this should have been part of power and normal with the gen III:), and for those with the eco button pushed, let the engine sound like crap as long as its more efficient.

Only $500 below invoice??? What were you expecting? Most everyone who has purchased either has paid MSRP or about $500 below MSRP. Invoice or below is basically unheard of in the first year of a model refresh, no?

Contact the AAA person and tell them your Costco price and see if they can beat it. Why wouldn't you shop around?

How was your driving style ?
Did you drive relatively normal or in hypermiling mode ?
Do the systems like automatic high-beam or the automatic lane keeping steer work as they should ?

I've been driving a Prius for 8 years. It has changed my driving style completely. I always think mileage first. But this car makes it very easy. I try not to use the AC and always drive in the "Eco" mode.
Both the auto brights and lane assist are great additions. They both work flawlessly.

Wrong! MSRP is for suckers. We got 2 2016 cars for $850 under invoice with the Costco Buyers Program.

for the record, this is a downgrade (cost cutting on cost of long battery cable).

    it hasn't been my experience.

Bob, i thought EGR didn't work at WOT?

BTW, I used to say that my next car would not be prius, it would be a full time EV. Now, i'm holding for self driving cars. Should be anytime soon.

Can a TWO ECO owner please let us know if the Nano Energy tires are rated for all seasons or summer?
