Help with battery/electrical issue

it might just be the 12 volt. but if you don't want to replace it in case something expensive is wrong, and you might not want to spend the money, you should have the trouble codes read.

 

A replacement 12v is a lot cheaper than many other things that you could try. I am also using a solar battery trickle charger on the project car's 12v battery, keeping it charged over the winter. If the car sees any sun, you can leave the solar charger panel in the cargo area while it is parked. They can be found at most auto parts stores.

I keep a solar charger hooked to mine all the time....just bought a yellow top and don't want it to run down in the frigid florida winters, down to 42 tonight

 

Heads up to anyone looking to purchase a new battery for ELearnAid. I just ordered my second replacement Optima D51 from them. They must be out of them. They sent the DS46B24R. The posts are Japanese style, but do not fit the new Toyota terminal post connectors. Since I had to install the D51 with the conversion kit, I no longer have the original Japanese connectors. I was not notified of this change prior to shipping. Very disappointed! My car needs a battery and I was planning to install tomorrow. Now I'll be combing the junk yard looking for terminal post connectors.

 

May be able to get connectors/post converters from your local parts store.

 

I got an Optima yellow top from Advance auto for the same price as they sell at on line stores of $147.00, I went to their website and used the chat box and asked them to price match this website,

they did and credited the core charge when I picked it up locally and dropped off the core my total was 160.83 with tax and 3 year warrantee, it was worth the 12 bucks tax knowing I can exchange it at any store without having to ship it back then wait a week for the new one to show up if they are in stock

 

That one is not the D51 I had the connectors for. It turns out he assumed I wanted the new one because I ordered it with the kit. I had to purchase the Japanese style terminal post connectors from a dealership in Oregon. Got it installed. All is done.

 

im not sure what connectors you mean....mine hooked up fine without anything special..all the cars come from japan so the connectors should all be the same

 

TM previously had replaced the original equipment battery with an Optima battery that has the larger-diameter battery posts, not the JIS-standard posts. Hence the original battery connectors also had been replaced, and apparently the original connectors were lost or discarded.

Then, TM had to find a source for the JIS-standard battery terminal connectors when the first Optima battery failed and was replaced with another Optima, this one having the correct JIS-standard posts.
