Hi all, I would like to be able to simply connect my media player via a mini jack 3.5mm cable to the stock radio, which is the 6 CD changer with no navigation type. I dont need the radio to display song titles or anything fancy, just need it to amplify the sound from my media player. It would be used for music and google maps. Has anyone been able to do that with one of these: ... If so, does anyone know whether I need to buy it with the TOY1 or the TOYF connector cable? I've emailed Grom but they have not responded. Thanks all
sorry, was not allowed to post the product URL, until now... Toyota / Lexus (older) - Auxiliary Adapter Kit - GROM-AUX1 Simple Aux-Input kits - Products Also, if I use this method, which I think involves me connecting the unit to the CD changer port on the back of my stock radio, would I then lose the ability to play a CD? Or just the ability to load and play multiple CDs? Thanks all
The 2006,and on Prius has an audio input jack socket in the centre amrest box along with a power outlet. An FM adaptor is possibly the easyest way for the pre 2006. John.
I have a 2008 and I think the jack in the armrest only comes on touring models. In any case, I have my itunes on my phone and use the jack, but the problem is the volume often has to be set to "Max". Santa brought me a Kenwood (model # KDC-BT562U) and the interfaces for the steering wheel control and stock screen. This should be enough for decent sound w/o going overboard with a separate amp, subwoofer, etc.
The European models have completely different levels of equipment to the US cars. For instance all gen2 models come with 16 inch wheels. John
alright, quit rubbing it in. usa cars are still better cause the steering wheel is on the correct side.
I bet you have difficulty reaching the pedles. Besides our British engineers overcame that problem by building the McClarren with the steering in the the middle. We are just waiting for the rest of the world to catch up. John
Danyulo. I really cannot help with this one. Since the CD player is part of the radio. I am reasonably sure It has no input port for an external CD player.
