I'm looking for some guidance on what maintenance I should get done on my 2005 prius. At 98,706 I had the rear brakes cleaned/adjusted, and I recently got two new rear tires. I haven't gotten any fluids flushed ever except when I had both water pumps replaced (one recall, one broke. apparently priuses have two?). I have no idea what I need. I've been reading up around here and this is the list I've come up with:
    • Brake fluid flush
    • Transaxle fluid
    • Fuel injector cleaning
    • Throttle plate cleaning
    • PCV valve replacement
    • Oil Change
    • Tire rotation/alignment
Am I missing anything? Any idea on how much this would cost me?

How long have you owned this car? Most of those items you can do yourself and minimal costs. If you take it to a shop, I would say about $300.

If you're not having any driving issues, I probably would start with just doing a transaxle fluid change and spark plugs change. Oil change is every 5000 miles

We took our 2008 Prius in with 95,000 miles on it and these were recommended:
    coolant service
    transmission fluid changed
    new drive belt
    spark plugs

The car has had it's oil changed regularly. I've replaced the 12V battery, the Big Battery still works fine.

I bought it new in 2005. I don't have access to a garage, otherwise I'd do it myself. Thanks for your advice!

Did you do all of this? Thanks for your input

i think you're due for plugs, belt, (might want to change the water pump at the same time) and fluids. oil and all filters of course.

What do you mean by belt? Why would I need to replace my water pump again? And which one?

There's drive belt that turns the water pump. If its the stock belt its way overdue for replacement. If the belt breaks it really gets you good. The water pump stops turning and you'll never know it till the engine overheats and throws a overheat DTC. By then its usually to late and engine damage results.

if you've already done the water pump, no need, it's just easy when the belts off. maybe they already replaced the belt?

When both coolant pumps were changed, it's possible they recycled the old coolant back into the engine. (That's what they were going to do on mine, so I specifically asked and paid extra for new coolant--not cheap.) So you might need coolant changed in both systems.

If the throttle plate/body gets cleaned, I'd do the MAF sensor too. Neither is high on the list unless it's running rough.
