They (we) used to be incredibly easy to deal with... Email or call, lowest price quoted (no dealers wanted to touch our prices), come in, have a salesman help you pick the car out, sign, done. People loved us. If you came in off the street, it was a different experience, I s'pose... heheh...

he was from africa, son of a king. supposedly. the accord was used, it was early 2000's, but there probably wasn't any sales crossover between honda and toyota at ernie's.

Oh, that sounds vaguely familiar... Honestly, I never really liked the Honda team... ended up buying a 2003 Honda Accord Coupe EX-L Navi 5-spd manual from Honda Cars of Boston because the sales manager didn't take me seriously at Boch Honda... was fun driving to work with my HCoB tag on the back of the car... heheheh. They tried giving me crap about it, I threw it in their face so fast...

that's funny. we're on our 7th toyota because my wife went to test drive an accord at claire honda in 2001, and they basically laughed at her and she walked next door, and drove home in a camry.

Awesome! I like Toyotas better anyway... I think that ended up working out for your wife! :) I only bought the accord because I "NEEDED" factory Navigation and it was the most affordable car to get it in. I ended up selling it 2 years later.

Strangely, I've had 3 cars made by Toyota, but I've never had a "Toyota." 1985 Chevy Nova, 1990 Lexus ES250, and 1996 Geo Prizm LSi. I think I'm gonna change that tomorrow or Wednesday, though!

It's probably NOT just a Honda problem, but I would say several years back, when I was looking at Honda Fit and Honda Civic as a automobile choice, I want to a local Honda Dealership on a (gasp) Saturday, and just honestly told the salesman that I was there just to look, and get measurements of storage capacity...NOT to buy on that day.

He was so rude, condescending, and put off, basically telling me I was taking food out of his kids mouths by wasting his time on a "busy" Saturday, that he refused to help me.

The net result was just about a month later, when I WAS ready to purchase I ended up at a totally different dealership. And I did purchase a Honda Fit.

Small sample size and only one experience, and since (no big surprise) the offending dealership is under new management.

The Chevrolet Nova nameplate returned in spring 1984 as a front-wheel drive subcompact vehicle for the 1985 to 1988 model years. It was assembled in Fremont, California by NUMMI, a joint venture between General Motors in the U.S. and Toyota of Japan. It resurrected a name last used on the compact-class rear-drive 1979 Chevrolet Nova. The new Nova was a rebadged and mildly restyled Japanese market Toyota Sprinter, a model sold in Japan as a badge engineered version of the Toyota Corolla. Nova shared the Corolla's AE82 platform, 1.6 L (98 cu in) 4-cylinder engines and was available with 5-speed manual, 3-speed or 4-speed automatic transmissions.
