Went to the stealership with a bottom line in mind, ready to walk since I'm not desperate to buy. They countered very close to my number, so I pulled the trigger on a Blizzard Pearl Three. $20k for the car only - with tax, tags, and a dealer fee on top of that. I figured that with the 2016's arriving, gas prices low, the end of the fiscal year, and a Toyotathon going on...these have contributed to a pretty good price. Am I wrong? How'd I do compared to others around the country?
You got a great price! Everybody is hooked on the Blizzard Pearl!! Congrats and welcome to the family of fun driving!
Sorry, forgot to say...I bought it while snow birding in Florida. One thing I was told during this process was interesting, although I don't know how much of it is true. (Probably the allotment part is true and the "loss" part is not!) The main guy claims he is "taking a loss" on my sale, so I ask him, "why would you do that"? He says it's because their 2016 allotment of Prius's depends on how many 2015's they have in stock. So, the less 15's they have the more 16's they get, and their profit margin will be way higher on the new model.
mmm, there may be more to it than that. florida has been a great place to buy new and used prius recently. i just think no one is buying them at prices seen in other parts of the country. but you're right, he probably isn't taking a loss.
Concord Toyota | New & Used Toyota Cars & Trucks serving San Francisco Bay Area and Walnut Creek They are still selling the Prius 2 for $7000 off MSRP.
That's a very good price. Am in the market for a Prius 3 in SoCal where about $6k off MSRP ($20,600) appears to be the norm right now.
Agree with you. I'm getting the same price too in So-Cal. Irvine and Cerritos dealership. Which one are you planing to go with?
I just realized that the backup camera comes standard in the 2015 models and backup camera was the only reason I was thinking of getting a Prius 3. Now am thinking a Prius 2 will suffice. So I have just started researching Prius 2 prices.
I have the back up camera. Its cool to have, but I must admit, I mostly use my 3 mirrors and turning my head out of trained habit. Plus, things in the screen appear farther than they are, which can lead you to being to close to parked cars when backing up.
I think the back up camera sucks on the 2015, it is off to left of the license plate and does not give a accurate image of whats behind you.
Still eh. On our 2010 the backup camera field-of-view is funhouse wide, I use it with extreme caution, can't get to used to distances displayed, vs reality. I'd heard the fov had changed on later models, maybe that was just in the v tho.
