It's interesting that I rarely see the Gen 1 Prius anymore. Maybe only 2 sightings of it per month. As for the current Gen Prius, I probably see one every 5 miles I drive. And I see 1 for about every 50 cars parked in a lot. Works out to about 3-5 sightings on a typical workday for me.
I drove to Sacramento from Los Angeles and back this week on the 5 and counted over 50! I couldn't believe it.
About a dozen on a 15 mile commute in Seattle. Haven't topped 20 in a day yet, but I notice more all the time. No one waves anymore suggesting that the novelty phase is over.
I saw 4 - 5 a day. My commute is 50 miles each way, so I have a lot of opportunity. Texas doesn't seem to be too big on the Prius yet. But, I do seem to see more as time has gone on.
The only Prius I see on a day-to-day basis is mine. I saw one yesterday on my way back from the Portage Glacier, but they're rare up here.
gee... hard topic. for me, i'll count at least a dozen a day.. that pull up tot he store i work at. If i travel. i'll see a couple hundred of them. It's the bay area. there is almot one on every block.
We're a town of about 6000 and we have quite a few Priuses here in town. Just today, I saw a red, a white, and a blue one. Mine's one of two or three silvers. There's a dark red, another white one, another blue, and a black one. So that's ten that I know of in this small town!
On the round trip from Nashua to Cambridge (Rte 3 - 128 - Rte 2 - Mass Ave), which is about 60 miles, I spotted 18 Prii. Also on my 45+ miles commute to Hopkinton (Rte 3 - I-495), I counted close to 20 two days in a row. There are plenty out there in NH & MA!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(cooljw @ May 5 2006, 03:05 PM) </div> I was briefly behind a silver Gen1 yesterday. Its rear window sported an "Eat My Voltage" decal.
On my 300 mile round trip for Thanksgiving dinner, I saw eight Priuses...usually I only see one or two on the trip. 4 gave me the wave. One had 5 adults and a dog inside...they were all smiling except the dog.
I have counted about 30 each day. I am in the San Francisco Bay Area. I also have a topic about this too. Here is a link to it: http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=26331 . One record of counting Prii was 52.
Sheez, around the boston/cambridge area it's not even worth counting anymore, as we're overrun with the things! It's more of a challenge to spot the Classics that are still running around. . _H*
There are many in Victoria, BC. I see one everytime I take a ten minute drive. Lots of them are taxis.
I get to enjoy seeing 5 to 15 each way of my 3 mile commute in the heart of Silicon Valley, what a lovely sight.
