Driving without the key

    How long a Prius will go if drivers are switched while the car is ready and the new driver has no keys . Will it goes on unless it's turned off ? I'm asking while imaging a situation when you leave your car running to pick some thing and a thief steal it and drive away .

    It should go until it is turned off, no set time limit.

    Nothing prevents them from refueling with the ignition still turned on.

    Any law-abiding car thief will shut off the car before refueling... ;)

    I guess it depends on what you mean by "off". Engine not running is probably not legal but is convenient and good for a quick get-away if the cops arrive.
