Funny, how so few years after the appearance of personal computers we use the word "need" with respect to them.

So few years? Like, maybe 25? If you're referring to my earlier post, perhaps I should have added 'need... to do my job'. I work as an accountant, and computers and accounting software are absolutely indispensible. No flippin' way am I going back to pencil and paper, working on a tall stool and wearing one of those funky little visors. B)

Do you understand that the Intel Macs run PC emulation software many many times faster than a G5 Mac because most of the time the processor is able to directly execute the machine code of the Windows program, rather than executing it through a virtual machine emulating an x86 processor?

Yes, I'm aware the new Intel macs are superior to the older G5s. But PC on a mac is still an emulation, and some issues remain unresolved. I learned many years ago to choose the software first, then find the platform to run it. (Thank you, Roedy Green) As much as I would like that platform to be an Apple, it isn't. I've wasted too much time on the decision already, and it's time to get down to work with the tools I know will get the job done. Sorry, Steve.

yes yes yes, the old RISC argument again and how Apple has corrected their course and gone back to putting the burden on the hardware which makes sense now but back when they made that decision, it wasn't as clear cut as has been for the past few years. I still have a powerPC-based Powerbook and I love it just as much as my intel iMac, if not more so.

    But...you might look keen.

Would you also need some coal to go with that look? And a Mister Scrooge?

Just to set the record straight. Using bootcamp Mac hardware is identical to any other PC. Its not emulation.

You're still missing the point. The reason for the faster PC emulation has nothing to do with which is the better processor architecture or implementation, and everything to do with the simple fact that the processors are the same in each machine now. Similarly, a G5 Mac can emulate a PowerPC Mac faster than any Intel Mac. Again, nothing to do with which processor is better, and everything to do with the simple fact that the G5 Mac is a PowerPC and an Intel Mac is not.

Rosetta is a machine code translator, not an emulator, so please don't mention PPC apps that run faster on new Intel Macs than they ever did on a PPC Mac.

Hilarious forum so far, yet the jokes made are all true. Though, if you upgrade your memory, you could get some advantages. But I would recommend that you don't run windows in such a beautiful car as the Prius.
Too late, it has 4 retractable windows, and bootcamp is soon coming to the Prius in an available package in the Prius Prime, 2017.
