yet another mod journal (my 2011 two thread)

I've been wanting to take the time to make a thread to document efforts on my 2011 blizzard pearl for a while. So here we go, taking it from the top.

January 15th (rough estimate) I purchased a pre-owned 2011 Blizzard Pearl Prius 2


Since Chicago winters are pretty rough I didn't even really see my car through all the ice and snow for the first few months.

Come spring I started to get the itch to make some changes. I lasted until July when I started real simple with blacking out emblems entirely.



I had no experience with plastidip and was shocked how easy it was so I went ahead and blacked my hub caps as well.



This created a pretty neat two tone look with the silver oem wheels that I would keep for quite a while.

From here I was pretty committed to two tone look and decided to black out my tail lights as well.



To complete the look I went ahead and had 35% nanoceramic tint installed all around. As dark the law would allow locally.



Somewhere around here I signed up for Prius Chat after a few weeks of lurking which opened up all new avenues of inspiration.



Ordered myself some jdm style wind visors.



Installed a LED interior kit.



Had a buddy from work help me with a 4D carbon fiber hood wrap around the same time I decided to pull my hubs in favor of OEM alloys either carbon fiber wrapped center caps.



October 24th I installed xenonsupply 6k HID bulbs which as of the time of this post are still casting a shadow. I'm assuming there is something in the housing causing this.



On Halloween I met up with @Starbrand and @ncases in an attempt to install my fogs, we got them in but the wiring was over our heads. We did manage to get Star's auto folding mirrors installed though so that's a plus.



November 7th I managed to get the fog wiring figured out thanks to some special instruction provided by @sfv41901, thanks again.



I also applied some custom vinyl decals I designed and had cut by the same fellow who did my hood. Have more planned eventually.


TRD grill badge, not super noticeable since it's black on black... didn't really think that through. Oh well.

As of 11/16/15 this is where I stand.

And got super into the idea.



So I made a mock up of what it might look like stickerbombing my side skirts and front grill lip.

I've ordered a ton of stickers to do so. Just waiting on them to be delivered. Also debating possibly doing that on top of vinyl wrap or maybe plastidip incase I want to remove later.

Thoughts?

 

Too generic.
Most of the designs on that make me roll my eyes anyway.
If I do it myself I get to choose what I do or don't include and it won't repeat every so often.
You know?

 

Update photos in relation to my stickerbomb project.
Having to fight the weird December weather to make the exterior bits happen so I've only got one side done so far. Hopefully will be able to continue on Tuesday.

Yeah, base layer of black plasti-dip under each of the sections for easy removal if I ever felt the urge to change it up.

Didn't get to finish the other side because I actually ran out of stickers.. haha

Luckily I got another order in today. Unluckily, it's too cold to do much with them.

When @Starbrand and I have a chance to meet up again he is gunna help me get a few interior pieces off for treatment as well.

I need to drop this thing already.
I know everybody says coilovers are the way to go, but ballin on a budget and all springs are calling my name.

Besides form over function / / build is life

 

I ordered a Pumpkin brand android head unit. The 8" 4.4 quadcore version.
I'll update the thread as that all unfolds.

Posted this in the what did you do today thread but makes sense to document it here as well.



Had the Check Hybrid Light come on after install but realised it was because I booted it up to test before I had put everything back and that cause it to trigger.

Got that figured out and have been playing around a bit. Currently waiting on my ODB2 splitter and bluetooth dongle to arrive to set to some more features.

Overall the install was surprisingly easy. I want to install some nicer speakers now though. one thing leads to another I suppose.

Oh and I was also able to sticker bomb the shift ring while I had everything taken apart.

 

Pulled out my top glovebox and drivers side dash vents to continue my sticker accenting.

When pulling off then panels to get access I must have turned down the interior brightness and was terrified when the buttons wouldn't light up after reassembly. Luckily I noticed the speedometer wasnt lit either and remembered the brightness wheel. What a goon.
