And fairly soon. It will get the Insight's drivetrain. Also mention of the CR-V getting hybrid drive. Makes sense. Hybrid sales are up 22% in April. http://www.greencarcongress.com/2006/05/re...da_to.html#more
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Begreen @ May 4 2006, 04:58 PM) </div> So this would be an econo-hybrid? Makes sense. If they can keep the price around 15k then I can see these selling in abundance. Link to another story.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(ONwi03 @ May 4 2006, 08:51 PM) </div> I can't see how it will be under $15K when the sport MSRP's are.... $15,170.00 + $550 dest chg Manual Transmission $15,970.00 + $550 dest chg Automatic Transmission I know the Hybrid will include alloy wheels.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(usbseawolf2000 @ May 4 2006, 08:06 PM) </div> Good question. Though I think there will still be a market for the small Insight, similar to the CRX. Some people will want to have the ultimate econocar. Just specualting here, but Honda could surprise us with an updated Insight with newer technology and batteries that greatly exceed the current model's performance.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(clintd555 @ May 5 2006, 08:47 AM) </div> That's my guess. I heard that the Insight was never profitable due to the aluminum frame. It was rushed to market to beat Toyota for the first hybrid in America and quite a bit of its fuel efficiency was based on the aluminum frame, creating a light car on highways. George
Even though I'm somewhat disillusioned with IMA, I have to admit this would be an awesome car. I've heard great things about the Fit and its interior layout is cool, so a hybrid version would be good. Of course it won't be as efficient as an Insight since the Insight weighs 1700 lbs and the non-hybrid Fit weighs 2400, so a hybrid Fit probably will weight 2600.
I'm not a big fan of IMA either. But the Fit is cool. It'll be even cooler if Toyota made the Hybrid version of it.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(clintd555 @ May 5 2006, 10:47 AM) </div> I read the Fit will use the exact same drivetrain as the Insight. edit...sorry re-read post #1...this info is there as well..
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(bagwell @ May 5 2006, 03:51 PM) </div> My understanding is Honda is doing away with the insight & replacing it with another ie. the fit possibly as per post #1. IMA doesnt impress me either, it would be cool if they came out with a similar set-up as the prius... I would rather buy a SMART they look futuristic and have a good crash rating for a commuter car. Most models come with a 700cc (50 mpg or 21.3 km/L) & a turbodiesel engine has 800 cc 69 mpg or 29.4 km/L) 69 mpg is very impresive.. fortwo model (2 passengers) forfour model 4-5 passengers
