Interesting question ... My project has been mostly about going JDM for my Prius G's retrofit. I have entertained the idea of transplanting a JDM instrument display into my car. JDM USDM Unfortunately, this is not a matter of changing a preference in the settings. The characters in the vacuum fluorescent display unit are hard wired in. Take for example this 2009 display unit ... You can see that the language such as "ODO" "TRIP", "READY" are all etched into the sealed display unit. In the case of the beloved Gen-III display, if I want the JDM look with "ハイブリッドシステムインジケーター" instead of the boring "HYBRID SYSTEM INDICATOR", I will very likely need to dissect my instrument cluster and replace the display boards. Who can be sure if that will even work correctly? Oh the allure of JDM, I'm still not beyond giving it a try ...
I see that you're an Aqua driver. Looks like you can get a USDM PriusC display for a good price. 2012 2015 Toyota Prius C Instrument Cluster Speedometer 83800 5CF80 49K | eBay
