Looks like I'll need to change my username now.. Liking it so far, but not nearly the same mpg as the C like they advertise. Swapped in the HID's from the C and changed the running lights and license plate lights to LED.
DRL's are factory LED, the night time running lights are 194 bulbs. Maybe I should call them "parking lights"?
I'll post true mpg's next tank, but with keeping the same driving style as I did with my C, I am getting a computed mpg of 40, with the C, I averaged low 50's (computed). Only 600 miles on the car at the moment.
wow, that is a big difference. i can't really judge, because there are so many variables, and some people don't do much better than 40 on a regular basis. but it's definitely on the low end.
Hadn't even thought of that yet, aren't there holes in the fascia behind it? Plus I don't think I would last long without getting a ticket here in socal.
I gave up years ago doing the plateless front thing. Got tired of the embarassement of being pulled over. So, I opt for the off center plate, usually on the passengers side. Did it on my 2006 Scion XB. I will be ordering the tow plate hook up soon.
40 average? Do you live in a cold climate? Cause my 2015 got 64 mpg indicated on a 50 mile trip the other day. But typically around 50. 46 average indicated over a few tank fulls with 17" FRS wheels and non-LRR tires. What "HIDs" did you put? Check into professional Genuine Lexus like I did.. great results! See the link in my sig. Welcome!
We live in Southern California. The best "indicated" mpg we can get is about 48, and calculated tank mpg is usually around 43 average. It's a stock Prius 2 with about 2k miles on it. I actually just took out the xenonsupply.com 35w 4300k HID'S, they were bright in our 2012 Prius C, but they suck in the liftback. Went with Sylvania Silverstars. Pretty happy so far (for halogen).
Just purchased my blizzard pearl 15 Prius two weeks ago during the thanksgiving weekend sale. I live in SoCal also specifically Wildomar/Murrieta area. I work 3 nights a week in Orange and drive 54 miles each way. Going to work I get 53 mpg and coming back home I get 44 mpg. My guess is because it feels like it's mostly downhill going from Murrieta to Orange. Coming back I feel like I need to step on the gas harder. So far I'm running on 16" Konig Runlites (16.5 lbs) with some LRR tires (Yokohama YK) Loving mine so far that within two weeks I already changed the wheels, installed HID headlights, vinyl wrapped the roof black and installed LED's in the interior. Just waiting on the LED license plate lights. Here's some pics of my daddy wagon
Welcome to driving heaven!! Know the distance fairly well. You will enjoy the great gas mileage difference.
I just traded in my 2013 C for a 2015 Prius last week. Dealers have great deals now. My first tank returned 52.5 mpg calculated. Not bad considering it's colder now and we are on the winter gas here in California. This car is WAY better than the C! Smoother, quieter ride by far. No regrets on the trade in. Should have bought this car instead of the C.
We drive in relatively flat NYC -- out to PA through NJ on the weekends and the Prius always gets over 50mpg ... in the summertime it will get over 60 driving out east to the beach. I'm getting 46 with the Lexus CT going to PA
