My 2012 C 3 needs the rear wiper blade replaced. The dealer is quoting me $21.95 to replace it. That's f'ing ridiculous. Where can I buy these suckers, and how do I replace it myself?
I kinda go into a slow burn, regarding the near complete lack of DIY info in the Toyota Owners Manuals. Anyway, found this, in the regular Prius Repair Manual, the book they'd charge you over a grand for. Might help you. I've gotta feeling if you buy the replacement rubber inserts at the dealership it's not gonna be much less than the installed price they quoted. With the reg Prius at least, the trick to removing the back window blade is to just start rotating it backwards, until it forms a letter T. Then you can slip the whole blade off, work on it away from the car. Be super careful lowering the bare wiper arm onto the glass once the blade's off, btw.
i've never replaced mine, it hardly gets used. i wonder what is destroying yours so quickly. auto parts stores don't carry them?
All they need to replace is the rubber piece. I have the part #. 85214-52060 I paid $2.92 and my dealer installed it for free.
^^ Agreed I cleaned my wipers periodically and I got 3 years out of the front ones when I replaced them and when I did they weren't that bad. The rear one I got 22k out of.
Easy to follow instructions here and OEM part numbers: How to: OEM Wiper Blade Replacement ($25) | PriusChat I got my OEM blades off Amazon; free shipping with prime. The blades are real Toyota blades and worked out perfectly.
Yeap should be less than 10 dollars at any dealer no matter how much of a lack of a discount they offer you. Easily slides in and our of arm.
