Another option is to combine short errand trips, that do not let the ICE get cold enough to require warm-up, and avoid doing short single trips, when the ICE is cold. Of course, it depends on how long each errand is & how cold it is.
Just got a new Prius v (discounted 2015 model). I have a very short commute to work: 3.5 miles each way, 300 feet elevation gain/loss, 9 stoplights. About a 1/3 of a mile of the 3.5 miles is a speedbump-ridden crawl through our condo complex. The trip computer (reset each morning) shows that I'm getting over 40 MPG for that short commute. For comparison, my 2011 Mini Cooper S gets about 24 MPG for that same commute.
