Daily Prius Count?

I see more than that every day. My Prius is arriving in a couple of weeks. Right now, I'm in the lane next to the HOV lane on I-66, so I see them passing me by. When mine arrives, I'll be joining the procession.

For quite some time, I've been taking my own informal survey of the HOV lane on I-66. People have complained that hybrids are clogging up the lane. I try to count how many hybrids I see versus how many single-occupant, non-hybrid cheaters I see. There are a lot of hybrids now, but I still count more violators.

Yesterday, I was very excited to see a car carrier loaded with Prii heading west in I-66 toward Manassas. One was Seaside Pearl, the color I'm getting. I asked my dealer in Manassas for an update on my car's arrival, thinking I may have seen "my" car go by. Alas, it was not to be. I still have to wait until the expected arrival of 5/11 to 5/16.

 

On my daily 4 mile roundtrip commute, if I drive, I see 3 on my street alone and then at least another 3-5. So somewhere about 6-8 a day in 4 mile roundtrip. Goes up if I go further (10 or more).

 

In the week I've had mine..I seen a total of 3 ...of course I live in Indiana..us rednecks around here don't think its a vehicle unless it's four wheel drive and jacked up...

 

Part of my commute is 'against rush hour' on Route 66 in Virginia. The HOV lanes are only during Rush Hour, and with Prii allowed in the HOV lanes in Virginia, it's certainly measured in Prii per mile in the oncoming HOV lanes. In fact, inside the beltway, I66 is "HOV Only" during rush hours.

I don't really count because there are so many, but easily 100+ every day, probably many more because there are times its hard to see the opposing lanes and outside the beltway the lanes separate so far it's not practical to watch much.

 

I only see asbout 1 or 2 a day.

 

I ride my bicycle about eight miles/day on average, and I see about 30 Prii. When we drive from Sacramento to SF (about 80 miles) we'll see about 50 of them.

Yeah, if we were going against the flow of rush hour traffic instead of with it, we'd see many, many Prii on the I-95 HOV lanes. I can only count the ones we fly by, and the ones that fly by us, as we all head in the same direction.

 

Cruising along Route 1 in Central NJ I typically see about 4-6
traveling in each direction.

There are always 2 parked in the Whole Foods lot when I go
shopping there. Never the same cars though.

And these are all of the new versions.

 

Six at my gym, and about 10-25 around town...but then I live in Berkeley/Oakland....

 

5 Prius owners within a block of my house.
The other day there were 3 Prius' abreast at a red light, red and two blues. Almost made me wish I had purchased a white!
More in a day than I care to count.

Same here. I see more heading south (i.e. New Brunswick) (sometimes 2 or 3) area than I do heading north (i.e. Jersey City) (none or 1).

 

I drive mostly around town in Palo Alto and I ususally see at least 20 every day.

On one trip to SF I'll also see at least a dozen.

Yep...Dallas is a weird town as far as this car goes. I have seen 2 in the last 3 weeks or so, and when I tell people I ordered a Prius they have NO IDEA what it is, they think it's like the low tier Hyundai or Kia or something, so now I just follow it up with Prius...you know the Toyota Hybrid car? 45-55 miles per gallon? THAT they seem to get.

 

i agree with John, my commute is only 7½ miles but thru an area thick with state office building at the Port of Olympia so i frequently see several dozen. what excites me is seeing 3 or more sitting at the same light or being able to see at least 3 sitting at the light going the other way. 2 is no longer unusual anymore around here.

 

I see plenty... and it's rare I get a wave.

I do speed up/slow down when possible to create a mini Prius parade.

 

I just did a trip from Trenton, nj to Rochester NY. 4 days total
I saw 1 at Glenora Winery.
I saw 1 in Rochester.
I saw 1 on RT 380 near Scranton.
Mine makes 4.

That Whole Foods (Princeton) is my FAVORITE! Hands down the best one out of the 3 I've been to.
