Half the weight, better aero, half the full. Its a pretty cool design. The problem is as a 4 door sedan, well, that weight needs to come back in, and some of the low frontal area will be lost. cd= .26, tesla = .24 (probable for gen IV prius too) so its about frontal area for drag. A two seater should get better mpg than a prius. The guy behind this thing is the inventor of the nicotine patch, so he has hundreds of millions to put in this father and son venture. Sports car for $60K, I wouldn't bet against them. Its prety cool and unique, but the $30K sedan looks pretty difficult. Don is now 80, and when his partially owned company didn't want to make the patch, he founded a new company and made a lot more money. This guy understands a good idea, and how to make money from it. The DeltaWing road car is coming, it'll cost $60K I wish them them best of look.
At 70+ mpg on the highway, this looks very attractive. Unlike the Robin Reliant of years ago, this appears to be stable since it can run fast laps on a race course. Maybe Apple will create a car like this.
It's had some moments in the sun - Formula 1-wise; but on the street? I'd be afraid of coming around a bend on some mountain switchback - only to find a rock in the middle of the road. With 4 traditional tire points and enough ground clearance, you can often just drive right over stuff. But with the delta configuration - imo, one is way more likely to smack it with a tire. .
