Fossil-C burners and COP21

    Some large companies involved in this activity have a position on avoiding +2 oC:

    Others are conspicuously absent from this position.

    COP21 may be a facade in that national-scale commitments have be already made (or won't be), and adaptation payments are already lined up (or won't be). Still, it might be an opportunity for more fossil-C companies to align themselves with the future.

    Taking a position should never be confused with taking actions. It really looks like the actions of the oil producers all revolve around being less wasteful in internal operations like less Natural Gas Flaring and inefficient refining technologies. Nothing to indicate they were putting plans in place to leave anything remaining in the ground. Bottom line is all the stuff they (we) can get is going to be extracted....then they will be green. As long as fossil fuel extraction is a for-profit industry, they will follow the money (including that resulting from good PR). The challenge is to make it unprofitable via combinations of pollution regulations and better technologies.
