I'm getting 35mpg in our 15 new v. We did a 200 mile trip and didn't see over 36mpg. I should mention it's the first tank. Is this normal? I got 52avg in my gen III yesterday driving to pick up our new v. iPhone ?
Your story seems sparse on facts; my 2012 Prius V3 gets optimal MPG at about 85 F, at 30 F 35 MPG is great. My V3 gets much better MPG at 50 MPH than it does at 60. (60 versus 45) If you are going fast enough, I am sure 35 MPG is normal. (it sounds as if you have the 'life time average' MPG showing, if it never changes. Perhaps use Trip A as tank to date with the next fill up and see if it changes more frequently)
I only got 32 mpg once but I had the ac on and was pulling a small trailer on my gen 2, 36 mpg was the worst I got just before I rebuilt the battery
Is the OP getting the mpg's from the computer or the tank? I wonder if the first tank wasn't totally full?
Assuming you are talking about a new Prius V, not a new Prius 5 then 35 might be ok (I'm getting 41 highway with my Avalon hybrid). The Prius V is not a lift back, it is not as aerodynamic, and it is heaver so gas mileage will never be equal.
I have a 2015 v too with only 1300 miles on it, I've done 2 fuel up so far.The first one was 35 mpg the second one 45!so don't worry eventually you'll get up there and don't forget to use Fuelly.com.Forgot to tell you that I live in Florida and every road is flat, may that's why I'm getting great mpg.
I have a 2012 V and I get at least 40 mpg and usually 45. Rarely less. My 2005 always got 45 to 50 but wasn't as heavy. Unless you're doing a lot of hills, I don't think 35 is too good.
41-42 mpg mixed local and highway (a/c and recirc on) 45-46 mpg highway (65 mph, a/c and recirc on) 42psi front, 40psi rear
If it was the first tank from the dealer, and you didn't fill it up, how many miles were on it when you picked it up from the dealer? Who knows how it was driven before you bought it?
92 miles when I picked it up. It has 371 now. That was just one trip. I didn't see above 35.9mpg iPhone ?
Those 92 miles could have been driven in any manner. Wait a few tankfuls with only you driving, the MPGs will probably creep up some. For what it's worth, any new car I purchase has to have less than 10 miles on the odometer (my Prius had 8). Makes for some unhappy salespeople, but it's my money...
Reset the mpg's. Like @RRxing said, the car could have been running for a couple hours whilst the dealer did their checks in those first 10 miles. That would really hit your early mpg's. Also, my Prius took until about 5,000 miles at the earliest before I started to get good mpg's. The really have to bed in.
We've got a 2015 v with about 2000 miles on it. Our average over all the miles is about 42.5. At about 300 miles, we took it on a 800 mile road trip doing around 72 on the interstate. Watching the readings that reset with every start, we got anywhere from 36 to 46. One observation was that wind was a significant factor- strong headwinds and we were at 36. A good tailwind and we were at 46. A 15 mph headwind makes an airspeed of about 87. I don't feel like I have gotten a good highway estimate yet because that trip was so windy in both directions. It does seem like the mileage is getting better as it breaks in. I used to be at about 37 mpg on my morning commute (short 4 mile drive so significant warmup penalty) but now I am getting 48 mpg on the same route and I don't think my driving habits have changed very much.
