I haven't heard anything in the media about this, but several have received short notice invites to the affair ~ a combination formal delivery event & actual 1st time look at the production model. Strangely enough, and likely due to the short notice / 1st choice envitees declining to go, Tesla has reached out to lower members on the list ...... Woo-Hoo!! We are quickly trying to juggle schedules to see if we can make the seven hour trip up to the Fremont area. Will be posting lots of pictures, presuming they are allowed, once we return home, if we can even get up there. .
That was in Monday's news feed and I presume the reason the stock went to $271.57 in morning trading. I presume it will be like the Model S launch. Car is driven onto the stage. Owner is announced. Photo op with Elon. Owner drives the car off the stage. Video & photos didn't appear to be restricted based on the number posted. This is Tesla's marketing event so they want everyone posting video and photos while commenting on how great the party & the product is.
Thanks for the well wishes !! So, even as we were furiously rescheduleing ... finding a cheep flight ... inviting another couple ... got all our $h1P together and for what ? This . . . . . . . . (gasp !!!! ) just kill me . . . . within a couple hours it filled. I'm guessing the uber strategists went the alternate route .... straight to knee jerk RSVP's and onlyTHEN went in to see if they could get flights - get friends to go with etc. So now we're on the standby list only if those folk cancel. In that instance - if something comes up - we'd just make the 7 hour drive. (sigh) .
Yea - they'll be streaming the event. Even so - the Tesla folk suggested putting us on a short list of folk willing to show on uber short notice - as there may still be folks that signed up before thinking, "hey! ... I really can't make it" ... and in that case - we'd just have to make the 7 hour drive. yuck. but I'm thinking it'd be worth it - if only to snag a selfie with Elon - who WILL be there. .
Very cool looking SUV and I'm sure the drive is off the hook. Hopefully the falcon wing doors work very well for everyone. I've never seen them on a car except for the DeLorean was it? Here's the awesome delivery event 3 days ago. Wow, this Model X looks so advanced. It will probably get a 100+ score from Consumer Reports!
Just a little terminology update. The Delorean had "gull wing" doors that swung into the car parked next to it...making getting in and out in a crowded parking lot or garage rather impossible. The "falcon wing" doors of the Model X are double hinged to allow getting in and out in these situations.
